  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New System and Map Update v18.0 scheduled for... JUNE!

I guess the update is less complicated in the Middle East and the UK, since the update, which does include wireless CarPlay has already dropped in those areas? 🙄
unless those releases showed problems and Genesis is trying to fix them before putting them out in its largest market.

Looks like mapnsoft updated their website again, and it's now moved to September.

But hey, if this update includes wireless carplay, I don't mind waiting (I just assumed we'd never get it).

Edit:

Looks like a map update did in fact silently release on the mapnsoft website (thanks 00thvs for the tip!). If you sign in and search for your vehicle, you'll see the page below.

You can see the July update version is still v17.x, and that there's a note that v18.0 is coming in September.

However, downloading the update via the Navigation Update tool returns an older version (V011.005 instead of V012.010). Guess we still have to wait for the map update too.

So WHERE does it say that Wireless Carplay is coming to the 2023 G70? I cannot find any such notice. Can anyone provide a link or official documentation stating facts about this supposed wireless carplay upgrade?

It doesn’t. We’re just speculating. They don’t show any screenshots of the gen5 infotainment in the updates in other regions, so my money is on we don’t get it.

You need a modem for that, so if the car does not have HotSpot Wi-Fi (which ours don't), most likely they don't have wireless CP. It's possible to have a modem and no HotSpot Wi-Fi, but it's rare. Forgot which car I owned had that, but all others have/had HotSpot Wi-Fi, which requires a separate subscription, typically under AT&T. You could also add your own service, but requires a separate module, which would have worse reception. I personally always charge my phone via cable, so I don't mind at all being wired.

So, the “Spring” update is now possibly coming out in the Fall. Tomorrow is Aug 31 and still no update (for 2024 G70).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I’m holding to the fact we shall see it by November 1st.

They said Sept but they moved it all the way from May... They may still move it

I agree with this statement.

They likely decided to push it all the way until October once it was too far behind the regular schedule. A month isn't impossible to recover from, but multiple months means they missed the boat but just won't admit it, instead they rather make it seem like its just a really long delay of 6+ months. (As if they didn't decide to push it until the fall update long ago)

I am on Facebook for GV80’s and there are folks who have indicated they have installed the newest updates. What is it that I am missing and no I’m not referring to the ones in Europe/Australia.

Nothing I see here: Notice | Official Genesis Navigation Update Website
Still October of 2023 listed even though they talk about it being released in September here: Genesis Mapcare | Customer Login

GV80 is GEN 6 and the G70 is Gen5 so maybe that's the difference? : https://update.genesis.com/CA/EN/updateNoticePopup/771

Not sure if they get their updates OTA instead of using the downloader tool?
According to this thread the GV80 *can* receive OTA updates for other things than maps, but they still use a USB for maps: 2023 GV80 Prestige OTA updates (Depending on the year?)

Anyone actually try to just download using the tool, any possibility they just didn't update the page?

No clue as when I checked mine it’s not showing any possible updates and upon contacting dealership was told still in a holding pattern.

Okay so interesting...
First thing I did was check which version of the updater app I had which was: 240.704.0.214

I then downloaded it again from the website to be safe, it did say it was a "new" version as seen below:
1725236674474.png

But after installing it was the same version of the app. I then went on and downloaded the map update, and the downloaded version is: NAM.17.43.46.011.911.0 as seen below:

1725236826861.png
Which is NEWER than what is listed as last Octobers update version (and the version I have installed): 17.43.46.011.302.0

However it's still not version 18, as suggested on the Genesis Mapcare | Customer Login website.
Sadly It's still has a "major version" number of V17, just a bump in the "minor version" number.

This guy has a '21 G80 in USA and got the Carplay/AA update OTA.

No, WiFi hotspots are not required for this. There are many entry-level Hyundai and Kia vehicles that don't have built-in navigation and certainly don't have wifi hotspots that have had wireless AA/Carplay for years.

Says October now.

If you login to the site and attempt to download it says to wait until October.

But, they do have the hardware to present a WiFi access point. Wireless CarPlay uses WiFi for the connection between the phone and the car.
