  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Over the air update or we have to manually download it to USB?

My car just did an update (OTA), but no way it could have been the map one, since infotainment said it'd take 20 minutes. So what the heck was that update all about? I didn't even know my car had that feature. It obviously has a modem, for Connected Services to work, but it doesn't have Hot-Spot Wi-Fi. Well, glad to find out it has OTA updates. I've done all others via USB, so that's probably why this is the first time I see it. Will check in June for the updated maps.

As far as a map update, June is in line with what I’ve heard from Genesis customer care. I did get an automatic OTA update on 4/4/24. That one was mostly a hot fix for the echoing phone calls while using CarPlay issue that had been plaguing many of us.

So the April ota only CarPlay related?

No. It also has improvements to navigation, like re-routing. There was a list of 5 things, but forgot what else.

I have not yet seen this new OTA. Did it actually take about 20 min? Lately I not driving half an hr. Also, is this OTA for all years? I have a 2024.

I don't know how long it took, but the screen said 20 minutes. I checked back like in an hour, and it was already done. I also noticed my freaking battery was in red, when I hooked it up to the charger. Ignition was off, so the disturbing part is Hyundai can keep the car remotely 'woken up' if they want to. And I don't think you can disable those automatic updates. If you refuse to do them initially, they get done anyway. Oh well.

I wonder about them performing OTA updates unilaterally. Owners have to complete an online consent agreement in which they allow HMC to perform OTA updates to their vehicles. If you haven’t completed that document, I don’t think they can push an OTA update to your car. I’m not a lawyer but it seems like if they push an OTA update to your car without the consent being completed, there might be some grounds for legal action. I don’t know whether anyone has tested that out but it seems reasonable to me. I gave my consent because I want the ability to receive OTA updates, but others may not.

Have not yet seen the pop up in the car for the install. Went my dashboard. I did nit find whether or not ota’s agreed to. But I did see my expiration date for maps and subscriptions till 2027. And my email is correct.

I think in the US you automatically agree to everything if you don't turn down connected services. I never signed anything regarding OTA updates... but there are tons of pages for the connected services agreement, so it's in there for sure. Ha ha. Hopefully when it expires, they automatically stop doing that, but need to find out if I still have to do something, as others have said all automakers keep tracking you anyway, unless you specifically call to stop it.

I thought the only “mechanism” for tracking our driving habits was via the “driving score.” Which for me is turned off - though I read some where that Genesis/ Hyundai turned it off automatically for everyone last year.

Yes, you can opt out that. But at least with my '23, it was turned ON by default, but I knew about it, and turned it off right away. What I'm talking about is tracking other anonymous data automakers sell to data brokers. The worst offender reportedly is GM, with OnStar.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Glad this came up. Just yesterday I sat down with my owners manual on my 2024 to try to understand how OTA updates work. I found no mention of it at all in my manual or on the cars settings. Could someone please tell me where to look?

We have a 20G and a 24GV. The driving score is available for the G (toggle button on the ap.) On the GV it is gone. I thought I read on the web version that they are redoing it so it is unavailable. I have mine toggled off on the G so I don't know if it's available for that vehicle.. but no intention of having it on either vehicle.

Ask your dealer to send you the Technical Service Bulletin: GENESIS OVER THE AIR (OTA) MULTIMEDIA AND NAVIGATION SOFTWARE UPDATE. That will walk you through what to do. For my year, 2021 GV80, there are two TSB`S: 295 and 334. I access these online through my local library`s Chilton link.

Just got another OTA update yesterday, when I used the car. It said it was for navigation, so not sure if the same as before, or a new one. Both said they were successfully updated, so maybe 2? But doubt it was a map update, since it also said it'd take 20 minutes. Without Wi-Fi or a USB, it'd take way longer OTA.

Has anyone recd an OTA for a 2024 G70 ?

Hopefully this means v18 is coming this week 👀
