  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm looking at either getting new tires or changing rims and tires on my 2012 Genesis 5.0 . I was looking for information on what was the best riding tires some of you have used ? 18 "rims on my 5.0

I use the Bridgestone Serenity plus W rated. I just purchased another set. I have been super pleased with theses tires. I now have 144,000 miles on my 2011 4.6. Check Tire rack.com survey for All season touring tires. The survey should help you decide.

I understand those tires are supposed to be quieter than the stocks. Is this what you experienced?

I just put on the Bridgestone Serenity Plus 225/55R17 97V on my 2013 3.8 Base which Costco had for $70 off a set of four during December. I LOVE them so far although it's only been a few hundred miles there was a very noticeable improvement in ride quality right away. The steering even feels slightly tighter. Right now Costco has $70 off a set of Michelins, they tend to alternate the $70 off deals. A lot of people here are very happy with the Serenity plus but also speak highly of the Michelin Premier A/S. It seems hard to go wrong with either tire.

Very quiet for about 80% of tread life then last 20% is just a little bit of noise. This is my third set of Serenity Plus on the car. Original Dunflops only lasted about 16,000 miles.

What's your average life for a set?

I must try them, one of my favorite things about the Genesis is how smooth and quiet the vehicle drives. After driving my C6 Vette with a modified exhaust I appreciate a nice quiet ride.

Currently there are several tires on tirerack.com that are rated higher than the Bridgestone Serenity. I stayed with them because of being overall very pleased. But the Pirelli Centurato P7 and the Michelin Premier A/s is also highly rated.

True, I just got new tires on my 2012 4.6, and, based on the reviews at Tire Rack, I wanted to try the Cinturato P7 Plus, but Discount Tire did not have them in stock in my size. I ended up going with a one size taller set of the Michelin Premier A/S. So far, I have been very pleased with the Premiers, with respect to my two top priorities of ride comfort and noise comfort.

How's the road performance and noise of the Premier A/S? I'm thinking of getting them on my next change.

Pretty good, IMO. There is a bit of tread block noise at around 60 mph, but at 70 or higher it goes away. They seem to track pretty well. If by "performance" you mean cornering response, I'd say they are definitely biased toward the "grand touring" side, but that is good for me.
