  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Group, I am new to this forum and look forward to being part of it. I am the proud owner of a loaded 2016 3.8 AWD. I am fresh out of 15 years (5 cars) of Infiniti ownership with the last one being a 2014 Q50 sport. Here is my initial thoughts of my new Genesis vs. The Q50

1- Genesis fit and finish blows away the q50
2- Although they are 2 very very different cars the Genesis is so quiet, refined, smooth, where the Infiniti was a very harsh load car. The Infiniti run flat tires made the car sound like it was riding on a rail road track. I changed mine at 10,000 miles. Could not take it any longer
3- Feature to feature the Genesis tops the Infiniti with the exception of the 3d surround camera and front camera. (not in Genesis)
4- The electronics in the Genesis are fast and responsive where the InTouch Infiniti system was an electronics disaster. So far Bluelink seems to work well.
5- Nice to drive with a steering system that is actually attached to the road instead of being run by sensors. Infiniti DAS steering sometimes had a mind of it's own.
6- Nice to be able to hear the stereo again. The Infiniti cabin was loud, full of wind noise and matched up with an under powered Bose stereo/

I do have a few minor disappointments ( none deal breakers) with the Genesis:

1- Why aren't the parking sensor indicators on nav screen instead of instrument lcd screen? Seems more natural to seeing the indicators while looking at the backup camera.
2- Can't lock the car door while car is running? So much for keeping the heat going while running in for your morning coffee.
3- Major blind spot when looking over left shoulder.

Once again I look forward to learning and contributing to this forum.

I just removed my steering wheel to have it thickened up and I could turn it either direction without the wheels moving (with the engine off) during the removal process. So I'm not sure if the Genesis doesn't turn w/o sensors?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. LOTS of people are going over from the smaller Infiniti Gs and Qs. LOTS... I'm glad to see you're enjoying the new Genesis Sedan. It's a BIG luxury upgrade over the Infiniti - which IS technically more of a sports car than a luxury car. The Q70 would be a more "fair" comparison to the Genesis - but that's not what you came over from.

So where on Long Island? I grew up there. Mostly Suffolk county but a little Nassau county over the years. When I was REALLY young I lived behind "Mays". Remember that place near the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa? Not sure what part you're from...

Anyway - glad to have you on board! And congratulations on your new Genesis Sedan!

Thanks for the warm reception. For the record my car before the q50 was a 2012 M37 which was rebranded the q70 in 2014. IMO the Genesis is leaps and bounds more of a luxury car than the q70.

I live in Suffolk county on the North shore. Looking forward to picking up some much needed information on this forum.

2012 M37! Okay. There we go... Wow. That's a great comparison and the Genesis still wins. How far Hyundai has come...

Welcome....and I spent my first 11 years in Hauppauge, next to Smithtown.

And the Genesis is a ridiculously nice car.

Nice! Welcome! Glad you left out the performance comparison, and only compared the luxury aspects.

The Infiniti ( all 5 I have owned) are all performance cars. They look great, perform and handle well. My q50 along with many other 2014 models had many problems that exposed Infiniti's lack of caring for the needs of their customers. On the flip side, IMO they have lost their identity as a brand and need to re- group. This is the reason I changed brands and so far I am happy I did. The Genesis is a sharp looker, able performer and true luxury car. Infiniti must find out what they are. Unfortunately rebadging the line is not the answer.

Welcome! I came to a 2016 3.8 RWD Genesis Tech from a 2006 Acura RL Tech. No comparison, with the exception of the AEB, which is more sensitive and more to my liking on the Ac. The Genny waits a long time before alerting. Ride, fuel economy, comfort, tech toys, looks...the Genny rocks.
