  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi! My wife and I just purchased a 2013 r spec with only 13,800 miles. Paid $22,900. Drove all the way to Austin from Dallas and back in one evening for this car. My wife loves it! I like it to. I grew up driving Trans Am's, Corolla GTS, and a 'Vette, but the family life got the best of us and we had a Tahoe and Ram truck. Finally have older kids now and got a toy to play with! Anything in particular we should be on the lookout for? Driving back 2.5 hrs we didn't notice anything wrong with it. uploadfromtaptalk1425954029103.webpuploadfromtaptalk1425954049724.webp

Your Genesis Coupe looks great! Congratulations! And welcome to the community...

Iv got the same car but a 2.0T and I love it.

Your kids won't like it after they grow a bit older, lol. I just bought a 2013 Coupe, and my oldest son (27) pre-warned me about the back seats being "unrealistic" to actually ride in. At age 56, I didn't care about it, but just for the fun of it, when I recently met up with family members in FL, my oldest son goaded my 22yr old daughter (5' 4" & approx 110lbs) to get in the back seat. First of all, her head (see aforementioned height) hit the roof, lol, and it was a real adventure for her to "simply" crawl back out of the car! :-). But again, this was something I was forewarned about, and this was just a "having fun" family thing.

Seriously, the Gen Coupe back seats aren't good for anyone over...age 12. Btw, I love this car, so far. I was also concerned that driving more than a few hrs in a coupe might inflame my sciatica. Nope! More comfortable than my Honda Accord. I was pleasantly surprised by this. This car is comfy, tight steering/traction, and stance. On a flat road/highway you can take your hands off the wheel (not recommended, lol) for quite a while and the car tracks perfectly! The power/torque combination is amazing for such a small engine. And fwiw, I'm glad I stayed with being cheap and getting a pre-owned (20K miles) 2.0T model, as a 3.8L would be MAJOR overkill for me at my age. Heck, the 2.0T? It's hard enough to find a safe place to "run with it"! This coupe rocks. Amazing what modern technology can do to produce this power in such a small engine. And this is coming from a guy who last restored a 1969 Z/28 Camaro, which would throw you back when hitting it.

My only concern? Longevity of a turbo engine.

1.) Any thoughts on this? I've never owned one, but I've heard the engine life is much shorter than that of a "regular" engine.

2.) Any tips to share to increase longevity?
3.) I've always used Lucas Upper Cylinder treatment with my 2000 Honda (still have it). Is this safe with a turbo engine? Recommendations, etc...?

Thanks!
