  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all,

I just received an email regarding my 2015 Genesis Ultimate from Hyundai Blue link telling me there is a FREE update to my unit that will include Apple CarPlay and Android Play. I called blue link and they told me they are unaware of any new updates but they've had numerous of calls within the last hour. He said that the engineers might be working on an update to bring these features to the Ultimate models and he will keep me posted. I really this isn't a game they're playing on us and deliver the only thing I've been missing in my Ultimate Genesis

Here is the link to the email I got from Hyundai

I just got same email. I too have a 2015 ultimate and was stoked to see CarPlay available. I'm going to be pissed if this email was misleading. We've been patiently waiting and honestly I had given up hope we would ever see it

It looks like a canned email for other models. I don't see any "Downloads" link mentioned in that email. Not particularly optimistic yet!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I got that same e-mail this evening and got really excited until I noticed it looked like a canned e-mail. Stupid move on Hyundai's part - to send the e-mail out, not that the Ultimate still doesn't have CarPlay and Android Auto. Okay, well that too...

I got the same e-mail and ran to my computer. The download link just takes me to the main MyHundai.com page. I was so freaking excited. :-\

I got the same email. Bad PR/Marketing.

Clicked the link on the e-mail, searched for the CarPlay Link. When you scroll down and see the available models you can download it for, the 2015-2016 Genesis has an asterisk (*) next to it and below that it say for 8 inch Navigation Models only. Sorry to say, but it looks like us Ultimate owners aren't so Ultimate after all.

Well we "Ultimately" have to wait until we buy another car :-).

Hope this soothes the pain. I recently purchased a new vehicle that does have Apple Car Play. To be honest, it really sucks and I always use Siri Eyes which works wonderfully. I was ignorant this existed on the Genesis however now that I know it is there this is all I use. Never fails to dial the right number with a voice command ever and so simple to use. Simply push and hold the voice button on the steering wheel until Siri say hello and speak your command.

About the only thing I wanted AA/Carplay for was to send and receive text messages by voice. You can send and receive messages with Sire Eyes Free, but for whatever reason on my iPhone, I don't actually get an audio notification when I receive a text message. So every once in a while I have to say "Read latest text messages."

The other thing I wanted from AA and/or Carplay (but didn't realistically expect to be implemented) was Waze integration. In a perfect world and unrealistic, it would be nice to see the Waze map superimposed on the display screen.

Just for your information, I also got the E-Mail. I have a 2016 Genesis Base. I already have AA but it doesn't play well with my Galaxy 7, so I can't use it either.
I think the E-Mail was just a mass mailing to all Hyundai owners.

I got the same e-mail and did not find a link on my myhyundai.com page. I sent them an e-mail and got the following response:

Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you regarding your inquiry for the availability of Android Auto or Apple Car Play software for your 2015 Genesis. We apologize based on a search of your vehicle identification number, your VIN does not currently support the software update.

The Android Auto and Apple Carplay software is only compatible with certain Hyundai Multimedia platforms. Hyundai continues to work with Apple and Google to develop support for our future platforms.

We apologize for any inconvenience associated with the availability of the software. Our Hyundai engineers continue to work on expanding this feature to additional vehicles. Unfortunately, we do not have a release date of the software on any additional vehicles. We do however, encourage you to visit our website at http://www.HyundaiUSA.com/shopping-tools/email-updates.aspx, where you can sign up to receive updates, news and special offers via email.

I received the same email. It angers me that we purchased the Ultimate Package and not only doesn't have the LED fog light, but also the CarPlay capability (and maybe others that due to the searing disappointment I am currently experiencing I can't think of). You would think that the flagship vehicle on this line would have all the bells and whistles.

Also to add to my current frustration, the clear coat on my car has been damaged by bird poop, something my other vehicles (2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 2003 Toyota MR2, 2006 Honda Element, 2007 Lotus Elise and 1999 Ducati 750 SS) which had also experienced bird soiling under the same tree never exhibited.

My question at this point is...whill I ever purchase another Hyundai/Genesis? Will I ever recommend them to anyone? Right now I am leaning to "NOT".

Wase will never happen as it is a not an Apple thing and Apple will always push Apple maps. I do believe Android does or will get it.

I have a 2016 Genesis with the Ultimate Package and received the same email from Hyundai. According to Hyundai there are no planned updates for those with the Ultimate Package. Here is the response from Hyundai regarding the email:

"Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate the opportunity to hear from our Genesis customers, however, we offer our sincerest apologies for the circumstances that prompted your contact with regards to you have received an email to download Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for your 2016 Genesis 3.8L.

We apologize for the email stating that you have the capabilities of downloading Apple Carplay. The navigation system you have in your vehicle is a Driver Information System (DIS) and does not have the compatibility software for Android Auto/Apple Carplay. Even though the vehicle does not have the capabilities of Apple Carplay the Genesis Premium DIS does have Apple’s "Eyes Free" Siri integration. Eyes Free links iPhones to the Genesis’ Lexicon audio system. Siri works hands-free, which allows drivers to perform a variety of functions without taking their eyes off the road. Eyes Free does help owners get things done like Carplay does. Using Eyes Free drivers can:

*Send and receive text messages using Siri
*Make calls from their phone’s contact list
*Receive calls
*Play music
*Access Apple maps and get directions
*Set reminders
*Audibly receive notifications
*You can ask Siri questions like: “Hey Siri, what movies are playing today?”

We will have news on updates to the premium system for future model years, but do not anticipate updates for existing owners. We apologize for any frustration this may have caused."

While I'm happy for those with an Apple smartphone, according to IDS, 87% of the smartphones sold last year had the Android OS.

I also got that email. Not nice of them to send it out to anyone with an Ultimate!

I'm another Ultimate owner that received this email, but I didn't have great expectations that it would be true.
