  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New User, New Car, and need some new Winters

Thanks for this.. I did not know yours was a 2009.. That will be important since I have a 2012.. I am not sure these will fit for me...

Man, you already have snow there.. That sucks.. Was 14C and raining here today. I think I still have a couple of weeks to work this out.
Sadly we have already hit -20, and got our first bout of snow 2 weekends ago. Going to be getting quite a bit of use out of these. Even with brand new Blizzaks trying to accelerate from a stop sign yesterday just caused the rear end to start sliding sideways towards the curb because it was pure ice. Deciding whether I want to toss a couple sand bags into the trunk for this winter.

There was a change in brakes for the V6 models as of MY 2012 (larger)
What may fit 2009-2011 V6's may not fit as of 2012.

Just put on set of X-Ice, removed Conti DWS Extreme Contact (which were Extreme Poor on snow or ice, even when new). No snow yet, so first impressions are only that the X-Ice are very quiet, and fairly good on barely wet pavement. Will post updates as north central Wisconsin winter progresses.

I too have a 2012 Tech Package Genesis sedan. I went to a very reputable supplier in Ottawa, Frisby Tire, to get after market steel rims with Michelin X-ice3 tires. The first set of steel rims, which Frisby said would fit, scrapped the protective coating off of the front callipers. The second set, from another manufacturer, would not even turn. Frisby offered to order alloys but after having waited more than a week for the rims and 4.5 hours in total waiting to have them put on, I had lost confidence in Frisby and their suppliers. I went with the package of alloy rims from RTX and Yokahama Iceguards that the dealer is selling. Even the dealer now only offers one 17 inch rim as they found that the other 17 inch rim was not clearing the callipers. There is no snow in Ottawa yet but the steering is much heavier now as the tires just seem to stick like crazy and resist turning. This may be an advantage in the snow but only time will tell. All to say, be careful with aftermarket rims as the manufacturers of the rims may not have the correct specs and you may end up having a fitment problem. I paid more by going to the dealer but at least the rims fit and they offered free storage for the summer tires.
