  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all, Just purchased a cabernet red pearl v8 genesis yesterday with tech package. I absolutely love the car and people wont stop staring or rolling down the window to ask me questions. Amazing when 5 and 7 series owners are staring at you as well...

Well here are the pics!

Congradulations! Get used to being stopped and asked questions! haha :D

Man Congrats...absolutely beautiful car!!!
Also you took some very nice quality pictures.
I bought the same car except White and won't get it till May.

Awesome!
:welcome:

Sweet ride and excellent pics! Your color combo was my second choice. I caved to the Mrs. who thought the chrome accents provided more "pop" on the black. Congrats, welcome to the club, and enjoy!

Congrats!!! Cabernet Red was my first choice but none were found here in MA (or New England for that matter). Are you planning to install the hood/trunk wings and the wheelcaps? Would make your car stand out even more!

Thanks! i took them with a Nikon D90, the originals are even better looking.

Dealer has no v8's in black :(

Sadly no, the car is a lease and i dont want to mess it up (i dont trust myself). If i finance it after the lease is up then maybe :)

Well well well i see another new yorker joining the genesis club, Welcome & enjoy

Congrats!! It does look like an incredible car. I'm more of a coupe guy but you should be happy with such a good ride.

So is mine... the dealer did it for me. I don't think it messes up the lease in any way.

Great looking car. I am waiting for my g35 to come off lease in June to make the switch. I'm leaning to waiting for the 2010 model so I can pick up any suspension modifications. My question to you, how did you decide upon the 8 vs the 6. I havent driven either yet, but I hear owners decide on the the 8 for the additonal power, yet others say the 6 was just fine and they didnt need the 8. Can you give me your decision process? I think I would prefer the 8 myself. Congrats on your purchase. I am leaning for the same color, but I've always had black (2 Infinitys and 2 Audi a4s).

the only true way to decide is to drive it. I own a 4.6 and drove a 3.8 for a few weeks before that. It all in the seat of the pants. You'll know within a few miles if the 4.6 is right for you.

I traded in a G35 coupe for this car. I went straight for the V8 due to it having better leather and a leather dash (as opposed to wood). Also wanted a smoother power train as i do mostly highway driving and passing and merging are important. Plus who can say no to 375 hp :)

3.8 V6
0-60 in 6.2 seconds
More than enough power for 1-2 persons on the car, some claim it feels quicker around-town than V8
Proven engine design (3.8 has been used in other Hyundai models, even if slight mods made for Genesis)
Better handling due to lower weight and better front-back weight distribution 52-48 for V6 vs. 54-46 for V8
Better EPA fuel mileage by 2 mpg (city and highway)
Aisan transmission (company is approximately 50% owned by Toyota)
Runs on regular fuel

4.6 V8
0-60 in 5.7 seconds
Some people have noted that extra power is mainly in upper ranges
Uses ZF transmission used in some BMW's and others
New engine with a few issues reported by various posters in the forum--try search function
Has extra features not found on V6:
  • wood-trim-plastic on top of steering wheel (some don't like it)
  • different door sill lights?
  • premium leather seats with softer and thicker leather
Premium fuel recommended (not sure if required)
Limited Slip Differential (mentioned on Canada website, but not confirmed for US model). Probably more of an issue for V8 because of extra front-end weight.
Larger brakes (to offset more weight). But complaints about extreme brake noise in reverse on cold days
Some people claim V8 is quieter (reason for that is unconfirmed)

Personally, I had to overcome some issues in buying any Hyundai, and the perceived drive-train (engine and tranny) reliability of the V6 sealed the deal for me. But I purchased and did not lease.

I don't believe the V8 has the LSD. I have spoken to a few dealers on this and none can confirm. If indeed V8 has the LSD, the LSD alone worth more than $1-2000 less what you will get from the V8
