  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just installed my new wheels and tires today:

Feel free to comment. I know wheel styles can be very polarizing to people - you either love 'em or hate 'em based on your personal taste.

I stuck with the 18 inchers - didn't want to go with a stiffer ride of the 19s or 20s. I also didn't go very aggressive: just a 30mm offset and .5" wider wheels vs. standard.

I like the look of these wheels but don't care too much for the smooth sidewall on the Continentals. But these tires will do MUCH better on Minnesota's frozen roads this winter.

They look real good. Is that a recent picture with the snow? Or did you photoshop the snow to make those of us in warmer climates feel better?

Yes - we got about 7-8" a week ago Saturday and it is still hanging around...

1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as you love it, that is what's important.

2. I think you were smart to stick with the 18 inchers. First off, 19 inch tires cost an arm/leg and you don't have much choice. 20 inch tires cost less than 19 inchers, but still more than 18 inchers. In addition, 18 inchers give the car a better ride than 19 or 20 inchers.

I looked at the br5s too and liked them - but was looking for something with a little bit of a lip between the spokes and the outer edge of the rim..

I think they look good.

Looks like I will get to road test these new Continental DWSs in the snow tonight - we are supposed to get another 6-8".

They better do better than the crappy stock Dunlops!

your wheels look good. what did you do about the TPMS situation? I've got a new set of wheels i'm ready to install but I am not sure how to go about handling the tire pressure sensors.

Any advice is appreciated.

Somebody posted here that the new TPMS would automatically sync up with the car, but others disagreed. When I installed my new wheels, I had my local Goodyear put the tires on and balance them. They said they could not initialize the TPMS, so I then took them to my dealer and had them swap out the summer tires/rims, put on the snow tires/rims, and initialize the TPMS. They charged me about $39.

I've switched from summer tires/wheels to winter ones six times since the fall of '08, and my TPMS has sync'ed itself up automatically each time (I have a duplicate set in the winter tires), so if that's not happening for you, I'd have the dealer take a look.

Congrats on the new wheels/tires, Viking. Lookin' good!

Musher, my TPMS also automatically sync'd itself too, when I rid the dunlops for the summer rubber. Pretty nifty I think:)

Turanacus,

Discount Tire mounted my new wheels and tires w/the TPMS sensors. I did not have to bring the vehicle to the dealer. They are definitely working because they indicated my two rear tires were low on air last week and I confirmed it with the gauge.
