  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Hello
Just purchased this car- really enjoying it except for the gas mileage (which is reasonable I suppose given the size and weight of the vehicle.... but I wish a Diesel was an option)

A few questions if someone is willing to help

-How do I get my cabin lights to automatically illuminate when I turn off the engine and exit the car? Would be nice to have at night

-Is Sirius XM worth the money for traffic updates? I heard they only cover major roads as opposed to using my cellphone (Google Maps, Waze, etc). Would prefer to use the in car Nav if I can get real time traffic updates. I have never had a car with satellite before so I know very little about it

-Does anyone know if the new grill from the 2018 G80 can fit the 2016 model easily? I like the look of it much more than the chrome grill on my car

-Is there a way to turn off the nav/audio screen with a simple button, instead of digging through multiple menus to turn off? I find the bright screen irritating especially at night, and would like to have a button to turn it off quickly while driving, instead of having to search through multiple menus to finally get to the button

-Can anyone point me to an online "scheduled maintenance" link for this car- my local dealer has a generic list that is not specific to this car- they just want me to come in regularly and inspect everything to death... and charge me for it. I would like something specific to this car (coolant flush interval, air filter change, oil change, brake fluid change, etc)

Thanks to anyone willing to help out with my questions

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I would go to the Hyundai website and register at www.myhyundai.com to download the owner's manual and maintenance schedule for your 2016 Genesis.

The lights are controlled by a switch on the headliner. IIRC, there are two side by side.
Display can be turned of sing the DISP button on the radio
XM traffic is pretty worthless IMO.

Could be some changes with regard to my responses, between the model years. But as noted, the owners manuals are super handy. Previous owner may have put them in the spare tire storage in the trunk, if not in the glove box. Otherwise Hyundai website is the way to go.
  • Cabin light on entry/exit button is next to the overhead lights, in front of the sunroof.
  • SiriusXM traffic has been notoriously unreliable and inaccurate, basically since it's inception over a decade a go. Phone is the way to go.
  • No idea on the grill. Maybe consider a wrap or something else unique?
  • To turn off the primary display, look for the DSP button to the right of the CD slot
  • Owner's manual or website will provide maintenance info.
    Owners Home
Good luck!

How did you update your post? I don't see an update button on the new format.

I see from your post in the other thread that was apparently a temporary glitch. I just felt like replying anyways. New forum just encourages posting from anywhere. Hah.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I still can't seem to be able to get the interior lights to go on automatically when I open the doors. I can turn them on manually, but that is not what I am looking for. Will keep trying. I plan to download the manual too.

Next I am trying to find where the SD card is so I can remove it for the update.

Page 3-118/119 of the owner's manual here shows you how to activate the door light.

Look at the image here. The SD card is under the bluelink button in the center console. You will have to open the tab from below to see the SD card.
