  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone. Just purchased a 2018 G80 Sport and am loving it so far. I get compliments on it a lot. Even a kid stopped me and said "nice car". I think that gorgeous red color helps it a bit.

I've been hesitant to buy turbocharged cars in the past, but this gem had only 25k on it and is almost mint. It seems to be a good engine from what I have read. Love the power.

I'm disappointed that Genesis Connected Services no longer supports my car though. I purchased from a Hyundai dealer and they suggested that I contact a Genesis dealer to see if it can be connected. The website says no when I put in the VIN. I wonder if it's even worth it. Does anyone else use Connected Services? Do you like it? I only wanted it for remote start basically.

Glad to be here, love the car so far.

Hey man! Connected services suck lol. Go with a aftermarket remote start or mypremium key makes a plug and play that uses the OEM remote. A bit of quick info for you. If your brakes ever feel like they are wrapped they aren't! The OEM pads leave deposits and cause a shake just replace the pads with a better set. Look into getting a catch can too. These direct injected engines have a lot of blow by and crap that'll gunk up your valves super quick!

Turbos are rather common today and rather durable. I've had a few with no problem.

Forget the connected services. There are many aftermarket remotes available that actually do a better job.

Enjoy the car, you made a good choice.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Genesis G80! I'm glad you found us. :) What did the G80 replace for you?

Thanks for the great feedback on Genesis Connected Services everyone. I think I will skip it and give one of those aftermarket remote starts a try. I replaced my 2010 Lincoln MKX with this car. I really liked that vehicle, but it was time to replace it and i wanted to go to a rear wheel drive sedan. I wasn't looking for the 3.3t originally, but finding a 3.8 with the Ultimate Package and reasonably low mileage near me was challenging. I found this car about and hour north of me and went to take a peek at it. That was all it took. Now I'm obsessed with learning all I can about these cars. I feel like I fell into a great community. This group seems to be very friendly and knowledgeable.

Hey 5.0KDM. Thanks for the brake pad tip and the catch can suggestion. Do you have any suggestions for a vehicle specific bolt on catch can, or a good universal kit? I see you are running the 5.0, so imagine your engine compartment and application is different than mine. I need to check with dealer warranty as well, as it mentions no mods. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Will

I don't think they have kits for it well not for the 5.0s. They are super easy to make tho. I know the stingers and g70s have them for the 3.3t. You can probably repurpose the bracket for your engine bay. I used a L bracket from homedepot and like $5 worth of tranny fluid lines. There are spots already threaded on the valve covers they use in assembly. I just bolted it to that. Im running a mishimoto can but any baffled can will do.

I need to check with dealer warranty as well
The mod is super easy to reverse if you need to bring it in for warranty work if you are worried about it. It shouldn't void any warranties.

Heres the one for the g70 and stingers you are basically paying for tht bracket and a bit of line lol If you're fine with it you can save a bunch of money and make it yourself. I think the can itself is like 100$

I saw that kit as well, watched a video install too. Looks really simple. Thank you for the suggestions.
