  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I'm Pierrepont on here and kia forums. I'm Blown287 on alot of Dodge forums. I recently traded the wife's 07 Durango for a 2010 4.6L EX Borrego. I've noticed some performance mod info for the 4.6L and I came over to see what I can learn.

Nice Borrego! Sucks that Kia dropped it from their North American lineup after only 1 year.

If KIA dropped Borego from North American, how could jwaters943 get a 2010 model?:confused:

Does Borego 4.6 and Genesis 4.6 share the same engine?

The Borrego 4.6 is modified to produce more torque, providing greater towing capacity. The HP is tuned down to 337.

Well I went and did it yesterday. I bought a 2010 Genesis 4.6. I don't get it for 6-8 weeks as they had none of my colour choice here in Canada so it has to be ordered from Korea. So I am also new to this forum. Really not sure how to start a new thread so I posted under this thread. Sure hope I didn't make a mistake buying the 4.6 as I have always been a GM guy. I have tried to find out info. about warranty problems and reliability issues etc. but all I seem to hear about are problems with the dealer network. Anyone with feedback on these two issues would be appreciated. As far as reliabilty, there probably aren't enough miles or time on any Genesis yet to determine if there is anything to be concerned about.

Thanks guys, we are very proud of it.

If you're gonna keep the car for a while, dump the factory oil after 1000 miles and put some Mobil 1 or Penzoil Ultra or Castrol Edge, or what ever synthetic you can find on sale at Walmart. If you're gonna get rid of it after 3 years, just stick with the dino oil with regular change intervals as specified by the manual.

Next week I plan on getting a K&N air filter, oil filter at Napa and 5w20 mobil 1 fully sythetic at Wal-Mart. I wish someone made a tuner for these, lol.
Maybe I am wrong, but don't count on finding a Genesis oil filter at Napa. The Genesis uses a cartridge filter, and I have not seen an after-market filter on the shelves yet. Costs about $7.00 at a dealer, and includes the two O-Rings (and washer for the V6 drainplug).

You will need a 27mm socket wrench to get the filter cover off. Don't try it with an adjustable or open-ended wrench (box-end wrench would be OK, but hard to find and a lot more expensive than a 27mm socket).

I am using Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy and like it a lot.

It was my understanding that NAPA #7042 and Wix #57042 were aftermarket oil filters for the Kia/Hyundai 4.6L?

Could be, but I have never seen them in stores. Not sure why you would not use the OEM filter anyway since the NAPA filter is listed at half the price, and therefore I doubt it could be better than the one sold by the dealer (but I would not be surprised if it is the same filter).
