If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The latest word is late 2013, so assuming that is the KDM launch timetable, that would likely mean early 2014 for the US.

As an aside, the next generation Sonata is due to launch in 2014.

And they are planning to change what?
From the Auto Show in February, only cosmetic work was done.
Other than the R model which has the 5.0 and 8 speed.
Really not worth trading up for.
The same issues still persist since 09.

If you are talking about the same issues of why most of us on this forum love this car, then I am going to buy another one!

had two clients talking about this car today, one guy was all about the genesis sedan, i'm thinkin thats mid life crisis talking. as a salesman, if i didnt have my catchall back seat i would be all messed up. dirty back seat that pushes 400hp, oh yeah

I am (like many, I suspect) hopeful that Hyundai might decide to add more adjustability to the passenger seat, a cooled pax seat would be nice too. How about an update to the on screen graphics and either access to part of the HDD for storing music or bluetooth audio streaming or better yet both.

Actually, since my lease is up this fall I am really hoping that a few of these things will find their way into the 2013 model. My guess is there's very little chance of them updating much from the 2012 model but I'd bet money that most to these things will be on the "new" Genesis in late 2013 or early 2014.

I sent an e-mail to Hyundai Canada Customer Relations last Sunday evening asking them a couple of questions about the 5.0 vs 5.0 Rspec in Canada and threw in a request for any information they might have about what changes might be coming for the 2013 model. So far the silence has been deafing.

Actually, BT audio streaming is supported in MY 2012. And there's no reason not to include it for next gen.

It's not in mine. Do you have the tech package? From my understanding, 17-speaker Lexicon systems do not support BT audio.

The lack of lumbar adjustment in the passenger seat is a big, big negative in the current car. Just ask my wife!!! Both of our 2003 cars have that feature-------Hyundai is way behind the curve on that.

W/ the all-new Genesis a year and a half away, it didn't make sense for Hyundai to do a major overhaul (esp. for a relatively low volume model like the Genesis sedan) for the MCE.

Changed some styling elements on the exterior and fined tuned the suspension and replaced the OEM tires - which largely settled the biggest issue on the non-R-Spec models.

I would suspect the new Genesis will have everything the 2012 Azera does, and probably features, such as HUD and adaptive headlights offered for the tech package.

The Azera gets power-adjusted heated and cooled front seats (as well as a seat cushion extension for the driver's seat), and has a 7" touchscreen w/ Hyundai's Bluelink system (the Genesis will probably get a larger screen and by the time it is ready, Hyundai's Bluelink system should be more comprehensive).

I hope they redo the interior styling similar to new Lexus GS including the similar steering wheel and paddle shifters. Tuneable electronic suspension would be great too.

I thought I read they were working on 10 speed transmission also for 2014MY.

Sorry, had missed this thread. Has anyone figured out what features on the 2012 Genesis sedan are missing on the new Azera, assuming the tech option is chosen?

How about making a choice as to what this car should be? They advertise it as a sports sedan, but it just lacks in so many areas to be competitive with other brands in this area.

I'd personally like to see the Genesis as a luxury sport, providing simple sporting pleasures to those "older" folk who still like to mash the pedal and see what it can do around a mountain twistee without excess expectation.

But I'm sure others would like this to be a true sport sedan, with appropriate shift response, seat bolstering and interior accoutrements (and a reliable stereo).

Aaaa, to each their own. I'll live with my '12 until the lease is up, and then decide what to do next.

Interesting tidbit from C&D.

Hyundai Europe also is providing massive input to the second-generation Hyundai Genesis, which will be a car designed with the European market in mind. It will be available with a diesel engine—likely a high-powered four-cylinder, possibly hybridized, with an output of more than 220 hp. The current Genesis comes to Europe only in coupe form—a niche vehicle that sells in low volumes and feels crude compared to Hyundai’s other European offerings, especially the sophisticated i40, a close relative of the Sonata.

As I have stated before, the Genesis and Equus sedans were developed for the Korean domestic market and hence, have more of a luxo-cruiser bent to them than a European luxury sport sedan (not that Mercedes sedans really fill that description aside from the AMG versions) and that the next gen Genesis and Equus will be developed w/ overseas markets in mind.

Good to see that Hyundaiu Europe is heavily involved which means that the next gen Genesis sedan will have a more European driving experience (will be lighter and most likely, a bit smaller as well).

Smaller I do not want - size matters...major competitive advantage at this price point IMO.

^ I think they can make the Genesis a tad bit smaller and still keep the interior space on the larger end for the segment.

I suppose - if that helps them bump the mileage a few ticks further I'd consider it a fair trade.
