  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
I recently purchased a 23 g90 it didn't come with the NFC card. I have the one from my old 21 g80. I tried to program it to the g90 it just tells me no valid device. Can I use the card from the g80 or do I need to purchase another one?
TIA
Duane

You’ll need to purchase the card specifically for your car. Other cards won’t work. I’m speaking from experience.

I didn't get one either.

I was thinking of getting one, then I realized I'd be going backwards when I thought about my credit cards. The geek in me wants this NFC card, but my OCD wants to eliminate the need for a wallet in my back pocket. I am on the journey to get all plastic cards in my wallet onto the iPhone's wallet, to include my driver's license. About a quarter of the states participate with Apple wallet for the drivers' licenses.

So if i were to spend money on this, I'd be going backwards, especially when you think about using the NFC card and then wondering why don't they just put it in Apple wallet...and then the Genesis digital key joins the conversation and says hello.

I'll stick with a wallet. What if you are unconscious for a health reason or accident? Can the responders open your phone to get your ID or any medical information they may need? Can the medical office copy the insurance information?

In the past three months I was in one serious accident, three surgeries, two hospital stays, assorted doctor visits. Would have been a PITA to just have information on the phone. Keep a redundancy.

Yes...there are emergency instructions that can be activated on the phone too if you are worried about that.

To enable emergency identification on your iPhone, set up a Medical ID in the Health app, where you can add critical medical information, allergies, medications, and emergency contacts. From the Lock Screen, first responders can access this information by tapping "Emergency" and then "Medical ID" even without your passcode. To allow this, turn on "Show When Locked" and enable "Share During Emergency Call" to automatically share your Medical ID with emergency services.

Just as much possibility your iPhone is smashed as your wallet went flying or something along those lines, or is in the unchecked safe spot, so your arse doesn't hurt when driving for 2 hours.

Good luck. Don't let my practical experience of handling some paper information sway your decision.

I hope you're doing well and recovering quickly.

Thanks. After the accident they discovered a stenosis in carotid artery. So, it accident injuries may have prevented a stroke (or worse) later. It was fixed on Monday.

My point with the post, over the past few months I've handed over License, ID, insurance cards many times and it would not work to be on a phone most times. Perhaps some could, I carry a card for the stent and for each of the lenses in my eyes after cataract surgery. Some things you want found fast if you have a medical event.

Never thought of this stuff 30 years ago.
