  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone received the NFC key card recently from Genesis? I am wondering how long does it take for Genesis to mail the key card to you after purchasing the car? Thanks!

I talked with Genesis customer support and also sent them emails. They said it may take 3 months for the new customers to receive the NFC key card. They can not check the status of the key card order, and they cannot even check if the order is in the system or now. No useful information could be provided.

Mine came in the mail yesterday, original purchase date for the vehicle was Sept 7th this year.

Thanks a lot for the information. So roughly two months for the delivery. May I ask if you submitted the order by yourself or your dealer did that for you?

I did nothing, so I assume the dealership submitted it for me.

Thanks a lot for your quick response. I contacted Genesis customer support. But they cannot submit the order for me. It has to go through the dealer.

I contacted my dealer Hyundai & Genesis of Wesley Chapel, they tried to help. But they don't know how to make the key card order. They said the key card may in the glove box or berried in the manual. But I could not find it.

Thanks for the information. I just searched the cargo net area again and also the hidden space underneath. But found nothing.

For what it's worth, I bought my Genesis through Sterling Hyundai Genesis in Lafayette Louisiana. They are one of the largest Genesis dealers in the Gulf of Mexico area and they know the brand very well..maybe contact their service desk and see if they can educate your service desk a little?

Just took delivery of my new GV70. The key card was included along with all the other manuals and documentation. I tried to use it (holding near the driver door handle as shown on the card) and nothing happened, nor do I see any instructions on activating it. I emailed the dealership, but have not heard back yet.

The dealership has to activate it in the service department. I bought one for my 2015 genesis and it was the first one the dealership ever programmed so the keycard concept is new to them and it appears there's not enough knowledge/training on them. No biggie.
If the dealership is confused just show them the keycard manual as it requires them to call up Hyundai/Genesis to get the key setup. Also, take out the physical key that's in the keycard and make sure it's cut for your car.
If not, then one of two things will happen. The dealership has a key cutting machine and and key it now or they don't have a key cutting machine and they'll have to send it to Hyundai. This is all based on my experience with a used vehicle so I'd hope that's not the same rodeo with a new car. Good luck!

You can activate them at home too, you don’t have to wait for dealership. It’s takes 1 minute to activate the new keycard in your genesis when you get it.

Should have consulted the ginormous owners manual! Apparently you need to be in the vehicle with both smart key fobs, and then can 'register' the key card thru the infotainment panel.

I have one of those Key Cards, got it programmed for my car. But I never could get the Key made. None of the Genesis dealers here (DFW) could make the key. Tried several of the high locksmiths, and no joy. Finally found one that was willing to try. The Card Key is so thin, he did not see how he could make the key match mine.

If someone has a Card with a Cut key, would you please post some pics of the Key and the Card Key so I can compare?

They had to send my key into Hyundai for the key cut.

My process: I bought the key card from Hyundai, shipped to me, brought into dealership, they programmed NFC card, dealership sends physical key to Hyundai to have it keyed and a week later they called me to say the key was ready. Tested it and everything is good.

There was a locksmith somewhere near Keller that had figured out how to cut the keys in the wallet cards. I don't remember the name if it, that was back in 2015 or so. I am sure it is in the forums as there was a lot of discussion about it when the new generation of Genesis came out. I took mine to him and he cut it without issue. Sorry I don't remember the name of the place.

I just received my NFC card . I bought the car in April. Two phone calls and a few emails later, I have it. Now the stupid question - do I need an android phone to program / use it ? Or is that only for the digital key.

I went back and found the thread on the Hyundai Forums. It is Michael's Keys Inc in Colleyville (817) 581-8992 that was able to cut those. You may want to give them a call. That thread is located HERE

Thank you. I did not like relying on the Key Card not having a key back up. Colleyville is close to me too.

Nope, the physical key card has nothing to do with the phone. Just need both key fobs in the car when activating it.
