Nice smell from vents when heating is on

Hey Guys,

I discovered not that long ago that when I turn the heating on in my Genny, I have this nice smell coming from the vents. I also have it in my 01 Audi A8L and I love it. It smells like you drive very expensive and luxury car. I also smelled it when test driving Lexus LS430 couple years ago. Do you guys know what makes it smell so good? Not too many cars smell like that. Even my previous brand new Sonata didn’t have it... Sorry if my post sounds weird but I wanted to find explanation. They talked about it on Audi A8 forum but no one knows the answer lol... Thank you

Off gassing from the plastics? The high end luxury cars actually have perfume bottles in the car that spray with the climate control but the Genesis doesn't have this.

Yes, I know about the perfume bottles. I am not sure as it is off gassing from the plastic. I can smell as soon as I switch the heating on, before the ducting gets a chance to heat up. I love it even better when I leave the car running with heat on and then get back inside couple minutes later. Weird, isn't it?

Is it a combo of wood and leather? For my LS 460, no heating required, but I never noticed it in my 2015 Genesis. My Genny had no real wood, though, and I live in Houston. It's funny you bring it up, because I just noticed it a few days ago, joy riding after a fall shower with the windows down. It smells really good.

Yes, it is exactly how you described it. I also brought it up on A8 forum many years ago and they asked if it smells like combo of wood and leather but no one knows how this happens. I love it, I enjoy it and was wondering what makes it smell like this.
