  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2 weeks into the "G" and have a few niggles.
(1)Having to Agree" (Nav) every time I start.
(2)3 button pushes to set wipers in Service position.
(3)Battery Drainage/boing alert every few seconds or so it seems
when I listen to the radio with the ignition Off.
(4)At speed (55mph+) steering is not as sharp/responsive
as I would have liked (All Tires @ 40psi).
(5)Active Cruise Control needs an On/Off
switch for the Distance module.
(6)Throttle(Gas Pedal)& G/Box could use a little
tweaking on the existing Mapping to ensure a
smoother and more dynamic response.
(7)No 30 or 90day oil/filter change and vehicle inspection.
Without reservation the "G is a fantastic vehicle and
In my opinion the above niggles barely distract from
the real life ownership/driving experience..10++

Some good perspectives. Just a few quick thoughts on your observations list:

- The gas pedal is much too stiff off the line. That must be an intentional design, but it surely is annoying.

- Yes, the battery warning is annoying too. Some cars like Rolls Royce have two batteries these to help that problem.

- My Nav screen only asks me to agree if I select Nav. Otherwise, I get no message. Perhaps you drive with Nav on full-time? I use it infrequently.

- Personally, I think the steering is right on target, at least in my car.

- Why are you filling your tires to 40 PSI? The book/door jam says 32 or 33, as I recall. I set mine to 34 which works well for me. At 40 the ride must be quite hard and jouncy.

- If you think you need a 30 or 90 day oil change/inspection, why not go and get one? I dood it.

- I don't bother with using the wiper service setting. I find there is just enough clearance to clean easily by just lifting the blades. Give it a shot.

- My mid-level premium package car doesn't have the cruise control problems of the tech package. Wish I could also get rid of the rain sensor feature for the wipers. Give me a good old-fashioned intermittent setting! There is a lot of good sense to the old KISS theory. Too often these days we see so many systems over-engineered and, thus, doomed to failure. Any day now I expect to see a posting that some poor new owner forgot to disable his automatic wipers before running it through a car wash.

By the way, I saw some Wartburgs in East Germany. Didn't drive one, but did drive a Trabant. As I exited the car, the driver door handle broke off my hand. That was back in '96. I spent '68 to '70 in Berlin, intercepting East German and Russian communications for Sam. Didn't know till after the wall fell that my German ancestors were from the east. How ironic.

AMEN. way too many nannies shaking the finger. but what a car, eh?

Hi To All,
Re the early oil/filter change & Inspection -> It's already booked In.
Tires/Pressure, I accept a little harshness in return for a little crisper response.
Somehow my Nav seems to turn On by itself! -> back to the manual...
Referring to the Throttle = Yes tweaking the Mapping as previously stated & definitely softening the Gas pedal..

Is that the one that looks like a '37 Nash? (From the movie "One, Two, Three" - one of the funniest Cold War comedies ever).

Yeh, that's the one, 2stroke(fuel+oil) damn fast..
Oh Yea;- 1 other Niggle:- the width of the front pillars+the width of the Door mirrors causes (me, anyway) a huge blind spot when Turning Left..

Agreed on these issues. I also don't like the absence of an intermittent mode for the wipers. I found the auto mode too slow to adapt to changing rainfall. And I don't much like the adaptive cruise control, but I'm told I'll grow to appreciated it:cool: We'll see.

I hated the adaptive cruise control initially. I learned how to adjust the distance (too easy) and now (along with the auto brake) it is a favorite feature of this really good car. I miss adaptive cruise when in my other vehicle equipped with a less smart cruise.

I'd like to see a redesign of the trunk lid. When I open the trunk after a rain, water pours in and in my work I open it often. Seems like a design oversight.

The sad thing is my 2009 Gennie had the same problem and it is still there with my 2013. Time to correct that ?????

Hi Cut-Throat..
I will reduce the tire pressures to 35psi & see how it feels..
As I have not had any real rain, I have yet to experience the Trunk lid issue.
