  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Put the Genny into hibernation for the worst of winter salt mess. Been up on the shelf since a little before the New Year. Will put her back into commission in a couple of months. Been driving the new 2017 Ridgeline in the mean time.

:bugout::bugout::bugout: Been doing this since 1982 when I had my Toyota Supra. On the other shelf which you can't see is my 1997 ragtop Mercedes. ;) This is the first time the Genny has seen the shelf though.

Cool, is it forklifted up there? I like the weight off the tires.
Mine's just sitting in a garage with a battery maintainer for company and waiting for Easter to emerge.

Yep, forklifted up and supported off of the 4 lifting points via a custom built support frame. Many argue one should leave the weight of the car on the suspension however after doing it this way for close to 35 years and never an issue, I feel I can say this works very well. This is certainly a good way to ensure the winter tires are good for the next season. :grinlaugh:

Still looks gorgeous... As one of the first V8 owners (and the first HTRAC V8 owner that I know of), how is she holding up? How many miles do you have on it? What will you (eventually) replace her with?

Only issue I had was in the beginning if you remember the "My V8 is sick" thread. They swapped out the part and nothing whatsoever since, not even adjustments or brakes for that matter. Only thing that has been changed is oil and filters and a set of wiper refills. I must say this car has been bulletproof which is pretty amazing for a ground up redesign and being an early adopter. Have about 40,000 miles on her. Will probably get back into a SUV, smaller style similar to a Porsche Macan. Who knows, if Genesis comes out with their SUV soon enough, I may very well hop into one of those if they do it right. No matter what I chose, it will be AWD.

Yeah that makes sense living in Montreal. Well it's definitely beautiful there, that's for sure..

Those wheels tho :woot:

Those are the stock staggered V8 wheels. Have 2 sets for summer and winter wheels. The second set was purchased as takeoffs but were delivered with unacceptable scratches so the decision to paint them charcoal with a very light touch of glitter and then a good clear coat on top was made. Came out so nice I did the summer wheels the same way.
