  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No CD player...

Hey Rick in Yuma... a prior responder recommended downloading the books on iPhone. I was concerned it would use up t much space... but it didn’t and I was able to run Libby for my ebooks....Waze to monitor troopers on the road and use my iPhone when calls came in. So all is good. Enjoy your Genesis!

Thank you so much, I’m a little technically challenged when it comes to downloading files. Plus I’m an android user, my kids have apple phones.
I have a lot of old radio programs and things on CD plus we just purchased some more two books on CDs. That I could not find online. I used to get audiobooks on the TUNE IN app., and then they cut books out of their premium service. I’ve been meaning to install Libby. There’s supposed to be a radar detector app with my Escort max 360. However, I’ve never installed it. Again it goes back to the technically challenged issues.
I’m still in the learning Curve for both the G90 and the G70. I told the dealer I didn’t need a lesson on how to use the car because I already had a Genesis. However I found out in less than 24 hours that there’s some functions on the G70 that are different than the G90. I may go back for the lesson. :-)

I just read this entire thread. Someone mentioned using FLAC files on a thumb drive for better sound quality as compared to MP3. Before I go to the trouble of getting the software and ripping a CD, does anyone know if my 2015 Genesis (G80) with Ultimate package will actually decode FLAC files?

Why go to all the trouble/cost to do that? Can ANYONE actually claim they can hear the different between a typical CD, or MP3, or Spotify music while DRIVING a car? I mean you've got road noise, you attention isn't even at it's fullest when it comes to listening since you'd be paying attention to the road most of the time. Seems like overkill IMO.

2015 can't play FLAC files, I've tried may ways including embedding them into MKV files.

I could. It's why I don't listen to the radio, it sounds like garbage... lol...

I mostly listen to Sirius. If I sing along with whatever is playing it sounds worse than garbage. After a few minutes I can't stand hearing myself.

I use Spotify exclusively for all my music needs. WAY WAY better option than using a CD that holds what, a handful of songs? Plus you have to store it and protect it from heat and scratching... No thanks. I haven't used a CD in a car for quite a while and don't plan to.

I make my own 5.1 DVDA discs to play in the car. They hold about 70 songs on a 4.7gb disc... Don't really care about damage, they're cheap and I kept the ISO files so burning them takes a few mins. Not planning to give it up until I get a car that can play the 6 channel FLAC files that I made these discs from.

Thanks SuperKing. I will continue to use my MP3 flash drives for music for now. I do like the DVDA discs. I used them in my 2009 Acura Tech but did not know they would work in my Genesis. I will give it a try.

Thanks all, for your comments.

I’m by no means an audio expert but I will say this when I had my 2015 Genesis Ultimate I purchased a few DVD-A disks to try in the car. With my limited hearing for music I can truly say it was and still is the most incredible sound I’ve heard. The range was unbelievable and the absence of any sound on music pause points was awesome. The surround sound was distinctive. Simply put that’s the best sound I’ve heard to date.

Damn Fellas...you all are going to make me dig up a music CD and give it a try in my 16 ultimate. I have yet to try the CD since my purchase in Sept 2019. But this doesn't bode well for the future of my 8 track music collection...sheeeeezz:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Well, I wouldn't go with a CD... you can try it if you want but you probably can't tell the difference between that and a 320kbps MP3. I only use DVDA because the difference is massive. The rest I put on a USB stick in 320kbps... oddly enough, the same files sound better when streamed through bluetooth to me... must be the phone's processing of the file.

Owned the car for over a month, never noticed until the other day when I tried to play a CD, only to find out that the TIP (sport, at least) doesn't come with a CD player!?
hey there, i found a kit from these guys and it works great in my g70. works through the usb port. they were very helpful when i emailed them some questions before i purchased

Yes 100% can tell the difference between MP3 and ALAC.

In a blind test driving on a busy road, I doubt that is the case.
