  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No radar in the snow

I would have gladly paid more if there was a winter package that consisted:

- Headlight and rear camera washer
- Heated fuel door, wiper blades and windshield
- Remote starter on the freakin keyfob

Too much to ask for in a luxury car? I guess the 3D cluster is more important.
Heated fuel door? That’s a new one on me. Rear camera washer?

Everything comes at a price. How much do you want to pay?

Nice to have features... From January through March every couple of days I am fighting with the frozen fuel door at the gas station. Not fun when its -15 C outside. The rear camera is covered full of salt within the first 10kms. Maybe its just me, but i would like to have the "luxury" of these things. Like I said, I'd pay more if it was available.

Snows a lot in Korea. Wonder if they have a similar experience or position on the methods described here.

I'd think enough cars are sold in cold climates to offer some sort of winter package. I've had the rear camera get crapped up but never had the fuel door freeze. Perhaps you've tried but would it do any good to spray around it with silicone? Your -15 C is roughly +5F and it would take a bit of heat to warm it.

It hasn't happened to me yet on the G70, but on my previous 3 series cars I had to deal with the fuel filler door frozen shut a few times (usually while it was parked at work. Another good reason to have retired 😊). Usually a few good whacks with my palm would free it up, but a heater would be a more elegant solution.
Of course there are limits to what is practical. I remember one year when I had to park outside overnight and we had an ice storm. The entire car was encased in a half inch thick layer of ice. I had to use a hair dryer and a long extension cord. It still took like an hour just to melt enough of it to get the driver's door open so I could start the car.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this but I don't get why there is no remote start on the keyfob in North America? I know some Genesis fobs have it (there's sleeves online that show it).

EDIT: Like this one - Vitodeco Leather Remote Start Key Fob Case for 2017 - 2020 GENESIS G70, G80, G90 | eBay

I bought one of those and the cutout for the wings on the back of the fob was instead on the front of the leather cover, where one of the buttons was/should be. Return was quick and correct on second order, no charge. Vitodeco brand.
