In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello. No sound at all... I wonder if disconnecting the battery would make a difference. Your car should be under warranty to at least it's not something you'd need to pay for...

This is a Genesis/Equus thing. There have been numerous discussions of this problem. This reminds me that I need to check mine. Yesterday there was no sound. It happens every now and then. Sometimes it just needs to have the engine turned off and back on. Sometimes it needs to be off for a longer period.
Numerous people have had the head unit replaced under warranty or at major expense if out of warranty.

Ok, just checked mine. Sound comes on for about 30 seconds and then goes dead. I am due for an oil change in a couple of weeks. I can live in silence till then. I will call and they will bring a loaner for as long as it takes to replace the head unit do an oil change and there is also a recall on the wiper motor.
There was a discussion of the warranty on the head unit a long time ago. On the older Genesis it was three years. I double and triple checked and on my 2013 Equus the head unit is five years. Mine is approaching four years. So I don't think I'll loose any sleep.

Thank you, Richard. Keep us posted...

It has been my experience that intermittent electrical issues are a result of battery issues.

Issue could be

Bad ground from the battery
Bad connections at the battery
Bad battery

there could also be a bad ground from the fuse box to the car... or the fuse panel).

Electrical issues are a pain to figure out...start with the easy stuff...tighten all of the connections at the battery

Don't expect the technician to tighten all connections at the battery...as was my case. They wanted to sell me a new battery, said they tried to charge the old one...etc... I looked at the battery, and the connections were loose. All has been good for 2 years sine tightening the connectios...

I have tested battery connections and they were tight enough. I showed my car to a technician today and he said most probably the amplifier is the source of the problem. All fuses in fuse box and fuse panel seem ok.
The only thing that comes to my mind is replacing battery first and see if it works, then I will check my amplifier.

2011 Genesis
Multimedia system dead no display, no sound
I've had 2 issues with the multimedia system. 1st one was no audio but I had display. This self corrected after turning the car on off a few times and cycling through (pushing the buttons.
Today was more serious- No display and no sound basically dead. I read many of the reports on this issue and started with the fuses in the fuse panel on the left side of the dash. There are 2 fuses for audio I removed and checked 15A (OK) replaced then checked the 10A (OK) replaced. Then started the car and system is now working.

very strange I'm guessing there may be a low voltage being supplied to the multimedia system possibly for memory (?) or something and removing the fuses may remove power completely causing a reset. Anyway my system is working again ....for now.
