  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Speakers just cut out while driving. Did a little searching and seems like the head amp. Tried disconecting the negative on the battery but it didnt come back. Any suggestions? Bringing it to the dealership tomorrow. Save me a few dollars please!

2015 sedan ultimate package

If the problem is in the HU, then the only way to fix it is by replacing or refurbishing the unit. If memory serves, the car has a 3year / 36,000mile warranty on the HU.

Yeah all the search results are saying replace the head amp. Bummer. Hopefully its covered. Bought it used from a hyundai dealership less than 1 year ago. You think im good?

So all the sources show as working, the screen is fine. Bluetooth works. Only thing that isnt working is the sound

I think you'll be fine. If you're taking back to the same dealership, they *should* have your back. Did you get any extended warranty?

Yes I did, thank you for the confidence boost! Using your cell phone for music, in a car with 17 speakers and surround sound is heartbreaking.

For the 2015MY, the head unit is only covered 3yr/36k miles. I'm pretty sure buying it CPO does not extend it all, but I'm not 100%. The dealer can order a remanufactured unit on an exchange basis for a fairly reasonable price (compared to buying one outright). The price on them either just went up, or it's about to go up. I don't remember what the memo said I got 1 week or 2 ago.

Don't give up hope yet. If Service doesn't get you taken care of, I'd go to my salesman and ask for their assistance...or better yet, speak to the General Manager. They've got to throw you a bone here (sorry, channeling my inner Austin Powers here).

Haha well played. So I went in and discovered as one poster already said, that it wasnt covered. Worse yet it wasnt the $2500 i thought it would be, but $4500 not including labor. I kindly asked her for advice on my next step to get help from Hyundai. She said she would try and call corporate as she would have a better chance. So the next morning i get a call from her and she says they are willing to pay the lions share for the new amp. I was nervous, but she said they would cover the amp cost, and i would only be responsible for the cost of labor. She estimated around $300. A drop in the hat compared to the $4500. Im glad i researched and was able to cite people with the same problem, and lucky that Theresa was so kind and helpful, she didnt have to go to bat for me. I will be bringing her flowers or cake when I go in Thursday. Thank you all for your advice and knowledge. This forum is a valuable resource and a great community

Excellent news! Hyundai comes through again.

If this ever happens again, try pulling the main fuse and then press it back in. Do it while the car is off obviously, but it helps on the first generation genesis sedans!
