  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No sound out of speakers

Re: Radio on, no sound.

A known issue, take it to the dealer and they will most likely replace the amplifier / xm unit in the trunk. Did you get the "check antenna" message on screen?

I think there is an actual TSB out for this, it's been happening on every model year 2009-2012 because it's the same head unit/amplifier. I think it has finally been fixed for the 2013's since they use Blue-Link.

Re: Radio on, no sound.

Yes same thing but only twice since I bought the car in June. Service writer said he had never heard of such a thing and I would have to bring the car in when it didn't work. Well the second time it happened I was pulling into the driveway of the dealer and it started working again. In December when I had my car serviced I talked to another customer that had the whole system replaced ($4,200) before it would not quit acting up and it was the same service writer I had that had never heard of it. I went the other day and the service writer is no longer there.

I had the no sound issue on my 2010 V8 w/ Tech with 58K miles today. Everything worked fine this morning, then when I left the office no sound. Got the XM check antenna message.

On the drive home I stopped and turned the car off and back on, still had the problem.

Got home, searched Google, found this thread, went back out to try it after about 15-20 minutes. Everything is working now.

Hmmm.....

Hyundai has been less than helpful about these issues. They have to know about these problems but to date no public campaign to correct the issues. Much like you my next car will probably be from Toyota or Honda. They consistently rank as the more reliable brands.

I've never had a Toyota, but I've had two Hondas with automatic transmission nightmares. I personally would never buy another Honda.

Hello dear i just want to say you hat you should make sure of your sound card driver first that is it ok or installed if this is ok then you check out your speakers audio video cable may be the problem is in this wire this steps you should must be check out then try ...........

I rented a Hertz 3.8 for almost 6 months. Went and bought a 5.0 as a result. However, both have had the problem of the starting the car and no audio. Also, will also happen when using Bluetooth phone. That is when I see it the most.

My 5.0 has Premium and Tech.. The rental was a base model.

When I turn off the Bluetooth the issue goes away. The 5.0 is more reliable. In the 3.8 Hertz, I would be traveling making many calls back to back.. One out of 3-5 times the radio, XM, would not come back. It showed all well on the display, but no audio. Power cycle fixed the issue until another few calls.

Weird.

So there is a TSB on this ya think? As I said, the 5.0 is much more reliable. Also, on the phone the sound to the far end caller is much better to them. Less echo and better quality voice from me.

Sorry to bring back the thread, but I just had this issue on my car.

Luckily on the way home my girlfriend read about an alleged XM issue...something about how when there's a free trial, it corrupts something in the head unit.

Anyway, long story short, I stopped the car, pulled out the 10A Audio fuse for a few seconds and put it back in. Problem solved, no need to see the dealer or replace the head unit for a software issue.
(The fuse box is to the left of the steering wheel and has nice little handle so no need to pry it open)

If any of you get this issue, please try that in case it was just a coincidence and it really is an Amp issue...although I don't see how pulling a fuse or doing a reset could fix an electrical or physical amp problem...

Most of us are aware that pulling the fuse will reset the system (it also, thank you, removes all of your saved navigation destinations) but WHY? What is wrong with our systems? Isn't there a better, permanent fix? What's the "official" Hyundai stand on this issue?

You know I have no idea, but a weird suggestion a couple of posters had is that it's tied to free XM weeks or something? It sounds very odd to me but thanks jebus it's just a software issue and reboots/resets usually fix those. :P
