  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Are we all aware that our 2009-14 Genesis sedans with the technology packages will no longer be supported in the near future as Hyundai failed to take action to update the 2G network that supports our cars? The word I'm hearing from Blue Link reps is that while they are "working" to see what could be done, there is a real chance there will be nothing they can do. Those of us who paid dearly for this tech package will be left with a non-functioning accessory when many of these cars are not yet 10 years old. If what I'm hearing is true, we need to be refunded a portion of the cost of this package. Anyone else have some knowledge about the end of support for our Blue Link system? Who has more info on this? Might a class action suit be warranted?

There is nothing about Bluelink that is critical to the operation of your vehicle. Technology changes. For example, satellite radio could go bust down the road. It’s not critically needed these days if you have an unlimited cell phone data plan. Frankly, it’s a big waste of money in these Covid days since many less hours are spent in vehicles.

Exactly what will you be missing if you lose your Bluelink service? I have to laugh. My ‘12 Genesis (Premium package) doesn’t have it, so I don’t need it. My iPhone fills the void as it always has.

An older vehicle grows obsolete in many ways. There is a cure for that.

At the time, 2G was the current technology. Hyundai is not discontinuing it, the phone companies are. To keep it working they would have to change the modems in the car to work and I have no idea how practical that is.

Just like all those good programs you have on 5 1/4 floppies, can you find a computer that uses them?

Good luck with the class action. If you want I can save you the time and trouble and Venmo you the $2.86 you'd receive if the suit was actually succesful.

As mentioned above technology changes. Should we also have sued when dial-up modems, 2G and 3G cellphones, VCRs...... became obselete???

That would be pretty good. I have a check from an ATT settlement for the sum of 25 cents.
I've not cashed it yet, saving it for the down payment on my next new car.

OOO this is new...I was about to sign up...I cant go without remote start but dont want to do 3rd party as that might void my 3rd party warranty...

I can’t go without blondes, but I married a brunette. Life goes on.

That is incorrect.. when my car was manufactured in 2015 2g had been around for 20 years and 4g was the current technology that was being used everywhere, including other cars. When Hyundai chose to use old technology and to use those features as a selling point on the car window sticker, well I'm sorry but they knew what they were doing.

4G came to the US in December of 2010. By that time the 2015MY was pretty well finalized. What do you think they discussed in meetings and sourcing back then? What was available for them to buy and when?
