  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Occasionally, I hear a bumping noise coming from the rear when hitting expansion joints or other road bumps. I've noticed the trunk liner beneath the package deck has a lot of "up and down" movement yet appears to be installed correctly. It has a series of small black rivets…holding it up yet it bounces up and down maybe 3 – 4 inches. I once had a lot o luggage in there and wonder if I jammed it up and caused this looseness. Does anyone know how to remove this liner?? It is the piece below the rear window.

Hey there. If I understood correctly you're talking about the liner under the subwoofer?

That hangs on with some "hooks" and plastic clips. To attach/detach:

- Open the trunk
- Pull up on the rubber seal every few inches to detach it (you don't have to take it off completely, just detatch around the center of the trunk until the trunk struts)
- You will see the "hooks" where you saw those black rivets
- Pull up on them (or push up on the liner under them) then slide them towards you (There are 3 or 4 along that edge). Careful not to drop the liner and break anything.
- You should see the bottom of the subwoofer and a metal plate here (under the speakers and rear window).
- You will see 2 white plastic clips which can easily slide off the part that holds them (attached to the liner). These may have detached or broken.

- Put the plastic clips in the part attached to the liner and push them up into their respective holes until they click, pull up on those hooks and slide them over the edge, then slide down the rubber seal and you're done.

Please provide your model year and trim level (Package), and whether you purchased it new or used.

BigD...thanks for the assist. Did follow your tip and found no problem. Noise must be in suspension.

Cool. You might want to have someone drive it slowly so you can hear from the outside or throw a cell phone in the truck and record from each side to narrow down where the sound comes from.
