  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My Genesis is a 2009 3.8 sedan. Put new Pirelli P Zero Nero 235/50 2R18 97W tires on two years ago. I'm ready for new tires , but the Pirelli's are very noisy. Any suggestions on a quality- quiet tire??

I like Bridgestone Serenity - very quiet and good handling

I will soon be getting these...Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 but stepping up a little wider to
245/50ZR18...heard good things about this tire.

The Bridgestone Tuaranza Serenity Plus's have been quiet and a good tire so far.

The OEM Continentals are running fine at 15,000 miles with lots of tread left.

These are the tires that come standard now on all 2015 Genesis and I will say they are quiet, smooth riding and handle very good.

I just put (~<1000mi) on Conti Pure contact at about $165/ea. I really like the smoother ride. Wear rating 700 which got me to buy these over the Bridgestones that lots here like.

DO NOT BUY THESE.

These tires are piles of crap. I bought these 3k miles ago. I went through 7 of them before I completely gave up on them. I had 3 defective tires out of that bunch (and one sidewall tear). 2 had separated belts that caused tire pull and one was out of round. 3 out of 7 were factory defective. They are also the loudest tires I've ever owned. Much louder than any of the summer tires I've ever had on any of my cars and are very harsh over impacts.

I finally replaced them with Pirelli Cinturato P7s. No more tire pull, very quiet, and you barely notice the bigger bumps in the road. I wish they gripped as well, but I knew I was sacrificing that when I went from a UHP tire to a touring.

Sounds like there was a bad batch or the installer was damaging them since they're on all of the 2gs and nobody is complaining. Mine are occasionally noisy when they're cold but are just fine otherwise.

Do you know the country of manufacture for the after-market Hankook tires you had installed? Hankook has plants in China, Hungary and Korea. Most likely the OEM ones are made in Korea, but it is possible that the after-market ones sold in the USA are made elsewhere. That's not any excuse, but might be interesting to know if there is lack of uniformity across their various plants.

Good thinkin'. :)

Your P Zero's are a great performance tire with a very aggressive tread pattern, that leads to them being very noisy. For a quite tire I switched to Pirelli Cinturato P7s and I love them, my second choice was the Continental PureContact. Both are very highly rated in all categories and the highest rated in being quite.

I have Good year Eagle FI Asymetric and very happy with them 245/45x18

Just out of curiosity, how many miles a year do you put on to need to replace them after only 2 years?

Perhaps the roads (curvy, hilly) and the way he/she drives might be a factor also.

Talkin' about tires, the RSPEC comes with V rated tires. You think any harm in getting H rated tires for the winter, knowing full well that I will not be going 130MPH on ice and snow? And which do you think is preferrable, the Blizzaks WS 80, or Michelin X-Ice Xi3, or Cooper Weathermaster WSC

Probably OK, but depends where you get them. Many tire dealers in the US will not install a lower rated tire than come as OEM, due to liability issues.

I recently bought Conti Extreme winter contact and 17 in wheels from Tire Rack. They seemed to like them for the kind if NJ winter driving that I will do --more high-speed highway driving then deep snow (I hope!). If you are looking for 17 wheels for the 4.6, there are not a lot of choices out there that I could find. Tire Rack claims that the wheels that they sold me were made for them for this application.

So, for the first time in my life, and I ain't young, I purchased 4 snow tires, and alloy wheels:mad: (would have preferred steelies).

Got em at Costco.CA (Canada, not California), and the tires will be shipped to the store, and the wheels and hardware to my house, to bring to the store to have them mounted, balanced and whatever.

My purchase:
4 Bridgestone Blizzaks WS80 235/50/18 H101
4 of these

AND WILL GET A SET OF 4 TOTES TO LUG THESE THINGS INTO MY HOUSE.

So now that I am in sticker shock, after buying my wife a 55" Samsung LED Smart TV over the weekend, to replace the 46" Sharp in the family room, which I will inherit and take down to my office. I am exhibiting signs of anxiety, realizing how much this endeavor cost me this evening. This was a necessity purchase, not an enjoyable purchase like something we can all get excited about, a new monstrous computer, a 80" LED smart TV, a new Genesis, altho I am happy with my new 2013RSpec, or even an Apple iPhone 6. Buying winter tires cause I live in the crummy environment I live in, is like buying windows for a house, or replacing a roof. Tons of money, and for what? Ya never get to actually enjoy them!

Okay, DANNY, stop ranting. You will get over this necessary purchase, and breathe again tomorrow.

SO THE bLIZZAKS WON OUT OVER THE mICHELIN xI-3, the Coopers I was looking at were only T rated, too far down the speed rating list, and I wanted a crunchier tire rather than an ice tire. Snow i can deal with, as I could ice, but with ice, I just don't go out.

BTW, my twin brother, Mr. D., got one hell of a deal on 4 tires/rims from another member here. Too bad I do not live in Chicago, as i would have beaten him to the punch. Nope, no used 235/50/18s up here in my area. I had to pay full Costco.ca pricing.

Breathe...breathe..breathe.. OKAY! I have finished ranting, and I am now okay!
