Do you know the country of manufacture for the after-market Hankook tires you had installed? Hankook has plants in China, Hungary and Korea. Most likely the OEM ones are made in Korea, but it is possible that the after-market ones sold in the USA are made elsewhere. That's not any excuse, but might be interesting to know if there is lack of uniformity across their various plants.

I don't sadly. All were returned to Tire Rack.

Try this thread. I'm still on OEMs for my 2012, but on my 2010 I switched to Continental. Here's a search result that will have some choices worth perusing:

I replaced the OEM tires on my '09 with Conti Extreme DWSs. Quieter and better handling. No regrets whatsoever. But it's a 3 season tire for me, I use Blizzaks in the winter.

My wheeles arrived here at home last Thursday. I received notification from Costco that my tires arrived at the store this past Friday. They want me to make an appt. to have my snow tires/wheels installed in the next 10 days. But do my new wheels fit over the calipers?

I went to my local Costco store this morning. Told them that they have my winter tires, and I have the wheels. However, I am unsure if the wheels will fit over the calipers. The geniuses there said I cannot put 18" tires and wheels over the calipers, and that I have to have 19" wheels and tires. After reiterating that they do not make steelies for the Genesis, and that tirerack.com and 1010tire.com do sell 18" tires and wheels for the RSPEC, they decided to bring my car in to do a dry run, and see if the wheels fit over the calipers. And they DID! Even the guys in the shop said I should use them all year around. For winter wheels, expensive, but what choice do I have.

Over the next several days, they will mount and balance the tires/wheels, and Tuesday November 4, I will go over to have them installed onto the car.

So my worries are over for now. And although I hate winter, I need some snow on the ground so I do not wear out my tires prematurely.

I went to Costco to finally have my tires and rims installed on my RSEPC this evening. Brought the car in at 645 for a 7PM appt., and even got my wife to meet me there so we can bring home the summer tires.

Long story short, as i was backing the car out of the mechanics station, I said to myself, MAN, there tires got grip. Went back another 4 inches, and something wasn't normal. Drove forward, all the techs came over, and determined that the wheels I got from them do not fit over the calipers/rotars, whatever. So not only did I scrape paint off the wheels, I have about a 3" x 1/4" shave off the black paint on my calipers/rotors whatever.

So off came the tires and wheels, on went the normal tires and winters, got a refund on the wheels, and now off to find somewhere to buy wheels for this soon to come winter. Tirerack.com is too expensive (shipping, duty, $conversion) to bring up to Canada. 1010tire.com, in Canada, the tires don't look so hot, but does anyone really car when it it below 0? Are they going to stop in the middle of winter and say 'man, those are nice wheels, when the wind is blowing and stuff, and I doubt not.

And in the capital city of Canada, the 4th largest city in the country, and cannot find a normal place online to visit and shop at locally to buy rims.

Probably end up at 1010tire, with them yucky wheels.

Okay, Danny, you can stop ranting now. I know this has been a miserable process, but when the wife keeps saying why couldn't I have bought a normal car, I just respond, because I did not marry a normal woman.

Once they torqued the wheels onto the hubs, whatever space was available, disappeared. So when I backed up, very very slowly I might add, and it was grabbing. Thought I was held up on something, and tried again, and that is when I realized that something was def wrong. Drove forward, hoisted the car up, three technicians examined it, and said the calipers are rubbing the wheels. So off came the wheels, got a refund, they are storing the new Blizzaks until I return with new wheels. A bit of paint off the calipers, and the wheels, I suppose, are now toast.

Ordered a set from 1010tire.com. Grey metallic crap. Not nearly as nice as the ones that did not work. And, more expensive, but not by much. Spoke to a rep on the phone, and he assured me that they will fit, and it goes thru a second process for reconfirmation before they r sent out. And these suckers better fit! Man, are they ugly, but who cares? You think you are cold and windy in Chicago, nothin compared to here, so who is lookin anyhow? They walk with their faces in their coat collars, their heads are facing the sidewalks to ward off the windchill, and they ain't gonna stop to look at my car and say, my, those wheels are ugly lol.

So now it is 7-10 business days til they arrive, and hopefully sooner. Are we getting some snow before then? U betcha! Guess my 5.0 will be driving like a 1.8L until the wheels arrive, and I can get the tires mounted on the wheels and installed.

What a pain!
