  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Non- limited top speed of 2015 5.0 Ultimate

Honestly, whom is going to go above 100 mph in a non-performance car. I can see it now, "here comes the Genesis V8 running the chicanes, slamming on the brakes and pulling out of the corner at 100mph...heading toward 120!"

Let's be serious.

You can spend $1000 on subframe upgrades and get some more performance out of the chassis.

I would do that. If I'm going to run at Le Mans I want to do it in a car with good climate control and a nice sound system.

Does anyone know of a top speed test of the '15 5.0 Ultimate with the factory speed limiter removed? Or at least a theoretical top speed without it? I think it is limited to 145 mph but I'm curious what the car is truly capable of.
My buddy got his speed governor removed, he showed me how fast it really is on the highway during the major city lockdowns in the states last year, he topped it at 193, and we even used a speed app on our phones to be sure, but they were reading 195MPH, now he says he only has it straight piped, not tuned, but we were using racing fuel for the top speed run, so IDK if that made that huge of a difference. He is planning on upgrading the fuel pump and tuning after that. I think he might get better performance spark plugs too.

Sounds about right for a 400+hp engine with a 8 speed transmission on a long enough road without a speed limited governor.

The only issue the Genesis/G80 has is that the stock brake system and suspension setup will make driving that fast very dangerous if the car needs to stop or hit an rough patch of road at 190mph. Hence the speed governor to keep the car in its safe handling zone of 145mph where the car handles that speed like it was 80mph and still brake well.

Stock cars designed to hit 190+mph has a lot of down-force(adjustable height suspension, spoilers, etc), massive front/rear tire traction and massive brakes(reduce brake fading when stopping) to do that safely.
