  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Not a race, but still enjoyable..

I was leaving Altex Electronics in Austin and was on a service road next to a major interstate and needed to head north (the opposite direction) to head home. There was a dedicated U-Turn that goes under the interstate from the left lane which I took at the next light. A 90s era Chevy pickup that sounded like it had some serious exhaust work hopped right on my bumper through the u-turn (he could have almost opened my trunk for heaven's sake), and it sounded like he revved his engine under the overpass (it sounded awesome, if I'm honest). I waited until my car and the truck were out of the turn and nailed it. I heard his engine punch it as well, then heard his engine fade into the distance as I walked him. I slowed down to a more reasonable speed, and he stayed WAY behind after that. Once I committed to the interstate, he continued on the service road without entering and I heard him gun it again lol.

I am constantly amazed how fast my 5.0 gets up to 100+. I would love to feel this engine/tranny combo in a car weighing 1000lbs less. And I finally got to see just where the limiter kicks in last weekend ;-) At least it's a soft one and does not abruptly cut power.

I was too until I tried my son in laws slightly modified Audi RS7. Talk about sleeper. 0-60 unless than 3 seconds for sure. 800hp and 1000 lbs of torque to all 4 wheels will get anything going fast in a hurry. My 5.0 feels like it has a 4 banger in it after trying that one out. Still love my Genny though. :hug2:

Let me throw another $80K at the Genny and see how they compare :-)

The Genny is way too heavy, and the 5.0 in the US lacks AWD, so even if you stick a big engine tune in there, it will still be a heavy RWD car. And you'd still end up with a $130,000 Hyundai (not that I think any car is worth that, Audi, Porsche or otherwise) ...

The RS7 was designed with that performance (factory tuned model with 605 HP and up to 553 lb-ft) in mind - too bad that the same speed limit still applies to these in the US ... all you really get is acceleration - in Germany you'd at least get the chance to use all these horses and torques now and then ...

I had a nice experience with a 550HP Mustang (his license plate had 550HP on it) with my 2015 V6 AWD a month ago. The Mustang and I turned off the main road (he was in front) to take a paved 2-lane shortcut. It's a hilly, winding road, and there's no place to really open it up. I immediately got on his butt and put it in Sport mode, and the race was on! I kept up with him the whole way through the shortcut--about 5-8 miles (I never checked the mileage). His exhaust sound told me he was pushing it coming out of the curves, but he never pulled away from me. We stayed in our lanes and there was no traffic coming or going to mess with. I sure enjoyed the shortcut that time--my wife wasn't with me...

The limiter kicks in? Was this a computer mod that came with one of the tire upgrade/recalls?

"slightly modified"?

If the 5.0 had more torque it would make a huge difference in acceleration. I dont know why it is so low. 420hp/420 tq would really help. Wish there was a tune available.

One of my boys just informed me that BTR is having a tuning event coming up. I'm going to it in hopes that they can tune this car. I would be happy if this car could be cranked up to 500 HP and 450 TQ.

I say slightly because turbo engines require only a reprogramming or chip and sometimes some exhaust work to achieve massive gains in HP as opposed to lets say the Genesis which would be quite complicated not to mention very expensive to modify for substantial gains. Take my turbo snowmobile as an example. For less than $1000 I can bring the stock 177hp up to over 300hp which in is only a reprogramming and exhaust work. I have only a mild tune on the snowmobile with no exhaust work that cost me $450 for a mild increase to 225hp. Goes like stink.
