  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Not feeling the love...

IMO, smart on the part of the dealer. I don't know who pays for the loaner car but it is not just a convenience, it is a marketing tool. I took my Sonata for service and the dealer blew the ECM doing an upgrade. For a loaner, they had an Accent and a Genesis. The service writer decided to give me the Genesis. A few months later I bought one.

Agree, the new car price sticker still on the windows so I'm really just marking the car for them. Still it was nice of them to provide a loaner in the first place, and the fact the guy went out and provided me with a exact car that I drive is just another level of service.

I agree. Very nice. It is the level of service that one should expect.

Not complaining one bit, lets just hope their mechanics are good too.

Mechanical Technicians are a dime a dozen. They either take their profession seriously or they don't. I've run into both even at the most prestigious brand dealers known. If they're a hack, they will be weeded out eventually by a dealer. However none care about your vehicle more than you do, so don't expect them to. They do their 9 - 5 and go home ever night thinking about their families and such. Not about your vehicle and what they did or didn't do to make your personal experience a good one. Most don't ever see the customer and could care less. Your auto is a number in the long line of things they have to get done each day.

If you are fortunate to get a good one, stay with him. If your not, then you will deal with them just like every other dealers pawn. That's just the way it is now-a-days. It's not like it used to be. As a norm, you're just a number and they will do the same work they do on every other customers vehicle. It behoves you to make a complete check of your auto going in to the dealer, as coming out. If you have to take pictures and write down odometer mileage, do it for your peace of mind. I have always taken notice of the odometer mileage prior to leaving my car with the dealer. Doesn't make any difference what dealer and I've owned several high priced autos. Last being Lexus and the RC F. They make the same mistakes as other lower priced dealerships. I can give you instance after instance where even the smallest wasn't adhered to let alone the most obvious. It's just the way it is in reality.

"I am concerned that the Genesis maybe the next Edsel"

I don't think that is a valid concern. That having been said, Genesis is in a state of flux, currently, as they decide which Hyundai dealers will become Genesis dealers. Not all will. A competition, of sorts, to sell the Genesis, may well determine which dealerships continue to sell Genesis. This will lead to "over promising." For instance, I live in far Northern Illinois. The Closest Hyundai dealer, currently sells Genesis but will not sell them in the future, as the dealership opted not to buy in. Their deal to me, also fell way short of the deals given by Chicago suburb dealers, all opting to get the available Genesis dealerships. I was promised the Chicago area dealer would travel 60 miles to my location to pick up the car, leave me a Genesis to use, returning my vehicle after servicing, all at no charge. We shall see what happens on this. In any event, I don't think the "free service" for three years will ever be an issue. The Valet service may be.

I don't think valet service will be an issue either, for three years. After that, if you want valet service the price of an oil change may be rather steep. In your case, 120 miles is probably 3 hours for the driver, plus at least 50 cents a mile. The most viable solution is to move within 3 miles of the dealership.

Hello! I've now owned my G80 for just over 1 year and have really learned to love the new technology and all of the features that the car offers. When I bought it, I was comparing to Lexus products and the Genesis promise of Valet service and comparable customer service focus (similar to Lexus) gave me the confidence to buy the Genesis. I've been patiently waiting for the promised Genesis dealership coming to my area (I live in Lancaster, PA) and I just learned that there will only be 2 Genesis dealerships (and service shops) in all of PA...one in Pittsburgh and the other in Philadelphia. So, I feel like I've been sold a bill of goods. I guess this means my hope of exclusive customer service (which I haven't felt from Hyundai) is not going to be happening. Has anyone else asked any questions about what this means to those of us who purchased with a the promise of a dealership which is now not coming to our towns? Is there a complete list of where they will be located?

Thanks!

No known list yet, at least not made public. Who promised that there would be a dealership in the area? A car salesman would never lie.
It will be interesting to see where the dealers will be and how service will be handled. My dealer is 50 miles and he says no problem, but you will be about 80 miles. You should be knowing more in a month or two.

Have you considered moving to the Philly area? After all, if you move to Pittsburgh you'd have to call start calling soda "pop." Yes, maybe Genesis Motors will be offering a relocation plan for those ungrateful customers who don't want to have their cars driven hundreds of miles for an oil change by their "hard to find," exclusive dealership shuttle drivers.

If you bought your G80 from Lancaster Hyundai, then they can continue to service it. Whether they will offer the valet, that is up to them. They have not said what dealers will get the Genesis franchise. I believe dealers have until the end of Feb to submit their applications to Genesis. So it'll still be a few months before anybody finds out.
