A couple of weeks ago I experienced an error message in my dash regarding the front parking sensors. Today the dealer said that the issue is one of the sensors was damaged by a stone or other hard object. The paint isn't chipped on the sensor cap. The only noticable item I see is a pin head sized dimple. That could make a sensor go bad? I hardly think so.

The part that is upsetting is that I'm being told it isn't warrantable and I'd be out of pocket for the repair which is over $300.00. Less than pleased with this. The dealer said they would push it up the food chain, but I'm not hopeful. $52,000.00 and they still want to nickel and dime you? Sad really.

I would make them prove it was damaged by some foreign object. On the flip side they look to be pretty cheap on e-bay, provided you can get to it in the first place.

Yes a pin sized dimple can trash a sensor, and it absolutely could have been caused by a rock.

These parking sensors have a history of failures for non-specified reasons, so while a stone/rock hitting the sensor might cause a failure, I'd certainly question it and have them prove it wasn't a warranty failure. While I had windows tinted. Saw clear bra think it's called where they wrap the entire front bumper, grille and part of the hood from rock chips for $700

That should provide protection.

Clear bra will protect them. Wax or clear coat will not.
