I spent a few days in Syracuse recently and the fiancee expressed her strong desire to rent a convertible. The choices were a 4cyl Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder or a something else. I went with the Spyder, but should have gone with the other one.
The Eclipse Spyder was loud, noisy, stiff-riding, slow, had handling which didn't match up to the promise of the stiff suspension, nor the power to match up to the promise of the droning, agricultural engine. To make matters worse it got horrible gas mileage. Truly an awful car. The one redeeming quality it had was that despite it being a convertible, there was no cowl squeak or flex when going over bumps. If you want a convertible, do yourself a favor and rent a Mustang.
It felt so good driving my Genesis home from the airport.
