  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My parents just celebrated their 62nd anniversary yesterday.
They needed a new car; at (almost) 90yrs and 84yrs they wanted a Hyundai.
They considered the Santa Fe, Sonata, others.

Then they saw the Genesis. Long story short: they gifted themselves with a new car.
They purchased a 2009 genesis 3.8!
They were cracking jokes; like, how the 7500 mi oil change might not happen in their lifetime, etc.

They paid $34,500 'out the door'. Good deal?

Fantastic car.

Compared to them, I'm just a kid at 77. I figure my Gennie should be the last car I ever have to buy.

Wonderful story. You might remind your folks they have a 10-year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

The warranty is one of the reasons they preferred a hyundai.

They're very optimistic.

My wife & I are a couple of 'youngies'...72 & 73. Treated ourselves & took delivery of our 3.8 TECH last March. Loving it:p

Just when I thought this forum was heading in the wrong direction, we get posts like this! Thanks for sharing the laughs and smiles.

The car is sterling blue.
Interior is tan.

Premium package which is way more tech stuff than they can ever comprehend. I can't imagine what would have happened if they got the tech package.

It was a leftover 2009. Do you all think mom & dad got a good price?
They paid $34,600 which included all fees, taxes, etc.

I'm in the market for a new car too. After driving the genesis everything else pales in comparison (in my price range that is).

M

You should be happy that they didn't spend more of your inheritance on a BMW/MB/etc. :)

I've been scouting this forum in preparation for the end of lease on my 07 GS350 Lexus. Geezzz, the Genesis sound like the official AARP Staff Car!!!
I thought that title belonged to Buick... (:

Just kidding, folks! I was born in 1936!

You will love this car. It will make you feel like 72 all over again.

My Dad is 62 and bought a black on black pearl fully loaded 4.6

Great car!

Why is it that all of a sudden I feel very young and out of the demographic for the Genesis? Oh well, I did my research and love the car.

Yeah, you're probably right (: I know my wife will not go for it. She already told me she is not ready to give up her a/c passenger seat.

Thanks for that great story about your folks. I too have lamented the deteriorating tone of the forum, and thank you for sharing that with us.

Sterling blue with tan is a gorgeous combination. I'll bet they look like a million bucks cruising down the boulevard together!

They got a great deal on a great car. I hope they enjoy it.
