  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2013 3.8, recently bought used with 60k miles.

It seems like after I've driven a bit - 1/4 mile, when I VERY first touch the pedal I get this super light shudder. It's not from warped rotors, I'm very familiar with that. It almost feels like maybe brake pads that are trying to "settle" in, or (hopefully not) abs acting funny. It's pretty hard to notice, I doubt my wife would even realize it was happening. But it's pretty distinctive to me. Otherwise everything with the brakes seems totally fine - nice firm pedal, etc.

Any thoughts? If this isn't a known thing I'll pull the pads out and see if there's some sort of play maybe.

grease or oil spot on rotors can also cause this.

I don't think that's it.... after some messing around, I almost wonder if it's a bushing on the pedal itself. travel is very smooth after the first little push. I'm hesitant to lube even with silicone/teflon as with past vehicles doing that is a very temp fix since the lube attracts dust and makes it worse

Try some dry lube.

Or the type of teflon spray where the carrier evaporates, leaving no sticky residue (I sound like a commercial).

My 2013 3.8 has always done the same thing, just a very slight shudder when brakes are first applied at moderate speed. I've chalked it up to a dusting of rust on the rotors as my car sometimes sits a couple of days between driving and I can see the rust and hear it being removed if the car has sat for a while. The slight shudder doesn't reoccur until the next time I take the car out.
