  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

started the this morning to move it in and out of driveway. Moved it again just a few inches to clear the door and got a CEL... car was idling rough it felt like.. Car was cold also. came back to the car 15 min later. Restarted it and no CEL.. Could this be just a computer glitch? I'm not due for the dealer until another 1200 miles but thinking i should bring it this week because i'm heading to Orlando next tuesday..

Historically, there have been problems with the Tau V8 when starting the engine cold, and shutting it off within a minute before it warms up, and then restarting the car at a later time. The valves end up in the wrong place. Supposedly they fixed that problem, but probably is somewhat inherent to the Tau V8.

In the future, if you start a cold engine, don't shut it off until it warms up a little (at least 3 minutes, and rev the engine a little).

thanks Mark... Thats pretty much exactly what happened.. The engine was cold and got the CEL.. Been driving the car for the last 2hrs around town and no issues atm... thanks for your help..

Hi, I had the same CEL just after top-up the gas last week....My car has shaken a lot and I felt like my car stalled.
And I had to turn off and restarted again...no shaking but still CEL..
But mine is 3.8 AWD...

I managed to drive to my dealer shop with CEL...Yesterday, they called me that CEL has been cleared and they just said old faulty codes triggered the CEL and Limp mode....I have no idea....

Before the event, I felt couple of times for dropping RPM under 500 and car vibrated a lot ( Just like having a stalled engine ) when I was braking for the traffic light.

Someone has idea what is this? please let me know.

Are you burning premium gas or regular unleaded. If regular, try premium. I strictly use Mobil Premium unleaded gas in my car (5.0 Ultimate) and never had this issue. I also, when first starting the car when cold, let the RPM's drop down before moving.

I had a similar type problem with a Mazda RX-8 (rotary engine). They called it a "cold start" issue. Once you started the car, you were not to turn engine off until until the engine warmed up, otherwise engine would flood on next start and you had to usually have it towed to a dealer. It was common to all Mazda RX-8s.
