  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone! I just bought a 2015 Genesis 3.8 last week and had a hit/run happen to the car last night. My driver's side mirror got CLAPPED; the assembly is still attached, light still works (lens is cracked), mirror still folds in and out. But the glass got demolished and there is a HUGE scrape along the back. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get this fixed as I've never actually had anything like this happen and this is the first "new" car I've ever bought. I look up mirror assemblies, but they are all saying they will only fit the coupe of this car :( and an OEM assembly will cost me about $700 unpainted. Any advice is welcome pleaseeee

I had something like this occur in a different car. I went to an auto glass company and they replaced just the mirror glass itself with a matching type for the car. Anti-glare coating and size. My motor in the mirror was still operational.
I cannot advise about the scrape. There may be a body shop repair for the body of the mirror damage. There may also be an auto yard that could supply a match for the lens and parts necessary if body shop is not available.

Ebay has them all day long and they are cheap too. Also check www.car-part.com. Google to see what's involved for removal and replacement. Ironically, I used to send members the Service Manual, but I would have to look for it now.

Might be worth picking up a nice used one and pay to have it installed.

There are multiple full mirror replacements on Ebay or find a junkyard with the same color mirror, etc.

genesis side mirror as my search got multiples.

Like others said buy one off ebay. Its a pain in the you know where to take the housing apart without breaking it but its doable. I used a few old rewards cards to undo the clips but if not mistaken the glass need to come off first. In your case shouldnt be a problem. Just make sure you dont rip out the wires connected to the glass. Once the plastic bezel/cover that surrounds the glass is off the rest is easy. You can even change out the genesis puddle light logo if you are lucky enough to find the mirror from a newer genesis but you would have to do that to other mirror at some point.
