If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Where do I find the oil parameters for my 2020 G90? I have always had oil changes by the dealer, but he's backed up, and I need to go elsewhere. I recall that I need fully synthetic, but what viscosity? Also, is there any recommended brand?
Thanks,
Lee

Please see othere threads on this for more info.

I do the 5W30 that is recommended in the Maintenance Manual for oil viscosity based upon temperature range.

I also do the Genesis OEM Oil Filter Element but you can order that online from a Genesis Parts company.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic is what I have used for 45K miles and have not had any problems.

Lastly, up to you, but i would not go past 5K miles before an oil change. Cheap cost to keep the engine in good shape!

It really is easy to change the oil in my G90 5.0.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, agree to sticking to 5K miles per change. I, too, have used Mobil 1.

Hi. I am attempting to reply to Toadfrog with a question as it seems, he has a similar car to mine and has changed the oil. I have a 2020 5L premium rear wheel drive. I’ve located the panel underneath the car to drain the oil and now I’m looking for the oil filter in engine compartment. Are there any tips in locating and removing without getting oil all over the place. I’ve seen pictures but they were for an engine with the turbo and mine is not. Thxs Jim131

I was hoping to find a location of the oil filter in this thread, but never mind. I found it underneath the car in another panel.

Yes, sorry for the delayed response!! The separate panel closer to the front of the car is for the oil filter housing. Unscrew the housing and you will find the filter element inside it.

Before I bust open the panel what socket size is used to unscrew the oil filter cap on this 2020 G90 5L Ultimate RWD? I have not used this type of oil filter in the past so I’m sure I don’t have the correct size socket?

Speaking of busting open these panels, I am thinking of buying a tool to carefully remove the push fasteners so as not to break any. I would buy some in advance, but until I take one out, I won’t know what to purchase.

I change the oil on my four cars regularly, but this is a first time for this 2020 G90 5L. I’ll buy 10 quarts of 5W 20 oil (Hotlanta) as I assume it’ll take more than five. My 4.6 L Cadillac takes over eight so I’m used to buying extra oil.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

In my toolbox I have a 24mm socket labelled as G90 oil filter so that is likely the correct answer.

I would feel uncomfortable using a 5W-20 oil in Hotlanta because I much prefer a lower volatility oil, as described in this post:

Another low-volatility oil is Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30. I use this in my 2019 Kia Sorento V6. Neither vehicle experiences any noticeable oil loss between oil changes.
