  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I see the cap suggests 5W-20 but I know that's for all climates. While there was
A sale I was going not stock up but they are out of 5w-20. Is this the only oil that works?? What are he pros and cons of different types???

If you want longer engine life, better gas mileage and longer oil change intervals go with 0-20W syntethic. They are used in my BMW and Toyota and oil changes are done every 12,000 miles or 1 year. Many auto makers already made the switch to synthetic but Hyandai is behind the times.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
5W-30 synthetic is fine. If you want to compromise, use Mobil 1 0W-30 AFE.

I don't believe that Toyota specifies synthetic oil (they are afraid to use the term "synthetic" because it implies higher cost of ownership). But on all new cars, both Honda and Toyota require 0W-20, which is only available in a synthetic.

Hyundai does not require synthetic because the type of customer they typically sell to for most of their cars is very price conscious when it comes to cost of ownership. But anyone interested in engine longevity would be foolish to not use synthetic.

5W-20 or 0W-20 should do just fine. If you want to stay Quaker State, you can get 5W-20 synthetic 5 quart bottles at Wal-Mart for just under $22.

Speaking of oil changes, what parts are required?

I have a 2011 4.6 V8 Genesis which I purchased new. Now with 197,000 miles on it and have used 5w30 synthetic the whole time. It uses no oil and is quiet and smooth. Since I live in a warm climate (Georgia) I use 5w30 in my Genesis, Denali and in my E500.
