  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Open Letter to Genesis Motors - How I'd Improve the GV60

They really should have used the same system as their other vehicles with scent diffusers where you can have multiple cartridges loaded and select the intensity. I’ve looked for the GV60 part over the years and have yet to come across one available outside of Korea.

for all Hyundai/Genesis/Kia with ICCU and 12v issues...as a cluster display option or as default, can we have a voltmeter (not a % of SOC) for the 12v battery, please.

AND:
from pg 621 of the owner manual:

Confirm the EV Battery is not
Low on the Charge Gauge
• Be sure the gear is in P (Park). The
vehicle starts only when the gear is in
P (Park).
• Check the 12-volt battery connections
to be sure they are clean and tight.
• Turn on the interior light. If the light
dims or goes out when you operate
the starter, the 12V battery is drained.

The dome light is now the "Charge Gauge"? You have to be a dim bulb to put that out as methodology in a +$60K car. Puhlease.

AND:
geez...is this manual even written for EV's?

pg 660:

12V Battery Recharging
By battery charger
Should your vehicle’s 12V Battery
become discharged either run the
motor for at least 60 minutes driving.

Alternatively you may connect a fully
automatic regulated charger to the
motor compartment front jumper posts.

So...1) a voltmeter and 2) a decent damn manual. The current digital manual, especially, is an abomination on virtually every level. The printed version is only better by way of clearer graphics...same dumb info.

I’d rather Genesis fix their ICCU issues once and for all than have a voltage display for the 12v system.

110% agree on the manual. It’s poorly written and clearly was a copy/paste job from other manuals with poor quality control. Their tech writers did a terrible job creating a manual for a vehicle that is only available as an EV. I’d somewhat understand if it was like the GV70 where it could be ICE or EV.

A small thing but, if the homelink buttons continued to work after you turned the car off but before you opened the door, like the windows and infotainment do, that would be great.

Living in a rural village area with a dark sky policy, I love the puddle lights, but hate the logo as we are always on the lookout for snakes (Australia) - and the logo moves as the side mirror cameras unfold. Spend a lot of time jumping and so do passengers when I pick them up. Would like to be able To turn the logo off!

The door handles! They open the wrong way - Tesla have it right - and feel flimsy and don’t have a long enough grip. And yes, auto close would be good when you walk away.

Rear windshield wiper is a must.

Headrests- we bought this car as it was the best of the rest as far as seats but still not good enough. The headrests are too far forward and push my head forward (this seems to be a trend). Anyone who is not overweight and has a decent upright posture will experience this. I can’t sit with my upper back contacting the seat fully in a nice upright posture without the headrest pushing my head forward. It is designed for slumping!! All car manufacturers need to address this and provide an option to have the headrests in line with the seat. My previous car was an 2003 Lexus and it had the most comfortable seats known! Unfortunately I was hit from behind but got no whiplash as the headrest and seat alignment was perfect. Bring back properly aligned seats! Alternately have an option on a headrest that you can swap out that doesn’t push head forward!!

Bonnet is too high. I like to have seat high but still don’t like getting so much bonnet view.

Turning circle is too big.

For medium height woman, i have long legs short torso. When i put seat high and steering wheel low (my preference), the dash is obscured and the screen looks like it tilts down.

I’m curious, what do you mean by the door handles opening the wrong way?

Regarding headrests and seat posture, have you tried all positions for the headrest? It has forward and rearward adjustment with three positions. For seat positioning, try out the Smart Posture Assist feature. I like to sit up straight when driving and find the headrest and suggested seat positioning to be ideal.

When the car first came out, a lot of people (myself included) couldn't figure out how to operate the headrest. We didn't realize you needed to pull them forward first... Then let them snap back into position for adjustment.
I assume this is the case here.

As ideutsch points out, the headrest fore & aft position is adjustable, but it's not intuitive how to do it! See this grab from the OM:

Like @ideutsch I also suggest trying the smart posture assist feature. I always thought that I liked to sit up high. Then I tried the smart posture assist feature and it put me much lower. At first I thought I would go back to my original (high) seat setting but decided to give it a try. That was more than a year ago and I haven't gone back. So my suggestion is two fold: (1) try the feature; and (2) stay with it for at least a week before going back to your preferred setting. Like me, you might decide to stay and it might solve most of your problems.

Yes I have tried all headrst positions — I would like it to have one more click back. And am using the Smart posture assist. Still find it pushes head slightly forward. Have practiced yoga for 30 years and am very upright.

does it snap back into alignment with the seat?

Personally I feel like the Tesla handles lever the wrong way. Though not a big deal either way for me.

Sound…
Living in a village and using a rural road with many cyclists using the road I would like to be able to turn vehicle sound on and off with one of the customisable buttons on the steering wheel. I love driving without any sound but sometimes need to turn it on so that cyclists can hear it when I am travelling local roads and then be able to turn it off out on the motorway.. I understand it does have sound at low speeds but I am doing 60-80 kph. The other day a cyclist swerved in front of me.

Thanks. In it most “rearward” position it is still too far forward for me. I want the bottom of the headrest to align with the top of the seat

Genesis Motors executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

Allow the vehicle sound to be one of the options for the customisable buttons on the steering wheel. This is a safety feature. My daily drive includes a single lane road with numerous cyclists- I would like to be able to turn it on quickly and then turn it off when I get to the motorway.

That does look like the most rearward position. Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll find any modern vehicle with a head restraint as far back as you’re wanting due to changes in safety standards from around 2010 or so.

Its a great car, so they are mostly just niggles.

compatible tesla superchargers added to the available chargers in the SatNav

manual control of battery pre-heating. I know when I'm heading for a charge, the car may not.

More frequent OTA updates for maps and speed cameras. I've had several times where it sent me on a big detour because it has n out of date map. or bings me every few seconds because it does not know the 50 mph average speed limit on this section of motorway was removed weeks ago.

I've added a BM2 battery monitor to keep an eye on the ICCU and a Garmin Dash Cam mini

Its a great car, so they are mostly just niggles.

Improvements I'd particularly like to see are:
* compatible tesla superchargers added to the available chargers in the SatNav (almost all Tesla superchargers in Europe are usable)

* manual control of battery pre-heating. I know when I'm heading for a charge, the car may not.

* More frequent OTA updates for maps and speed cameras. I've had several times where it sent me on a big detour because it has an out of date map. or bings me every few seconds because it does not know the 50 mph average speed limit on this section of motorway was removed weeks ago.

I’ve just had the ICCU problem and car has been off the road in the shop for weeks waiting for a replacement ICCU. It should be completed next week. Genesis needs to issue a statement on whether these replacement units are upgraded or whether we can expect another possible failure.
