  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Open Letter to Genesis Motors - How I'd Improve the GV60

Is there an on/off switch for the light? If so, is it hard to find in the dark?
Yes, has on/off. See pic from my 5.22 post. You flip the black circle to other side. Pretty easy to find.

Yes there is a switch, and no, it is not hard to find in the dark - very easy. However, the adhesive on mine became unstuck after about a week, so I may have to come up with something a bit stronger, or perhaps just press harder. It's definitely a nice improvement (though I still think it would be a nice touch if it just came with the car). Thanks to @MBGV60 for the suggestion.

Dear Genesis,

I live in Iowa where the roads are long and straight. Thus, it takes very little effort to follow the contour of the road. It certainly doesn't require constant steering input because your excellent vehicles track straight down our even straighter highways.

So you can imagine how frustrating it is when the "keep hands on steering wheel" warning comes on when I have not just one, but two hands on the steering wheel. Now imagine that warning dings at you a half dozen times during any substantial trip!

And how safe can it be that to shut off the warning alarm, I have jiggle the steering wheel at highway speeds to prove I do, indeed, have my hands on the steering wheel. Madness!!!

Thanks in advance for fixing this issue.

XOXO,
Sampras

Hyundai owners have complained about it too. Hopefully, it can be changed in an update.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Actually, just about every car company has had similar complaints. Tesla allegedly just turned off the "feature" on its FSD implementation but that was this month so who knows.

It was different but just as annoying on my prior BMWs. I have learned to just live with it.

At about 5:30, The ionic guy mentions changing from torsional to haptic feedback in LKA2 on the EV6. I can only assume the family resemblance will mean changes coming for Genesis, no idea when. I’m not an engineer…anyone know if that’s possible via an update or is the hardware I.e. the current steering wheel, capable of haptic or would they be new, different sensors?

Cadillac relies on gaze tracking, I think. Tesla supposedly is switching to that too, but who knows if they're doing it properly?

And the problem with gaze tracking will be how long it views you and how accurate that is. Similar problem to the steering wheel sensor, just different potential errors. Manufacturers are not going to sell us vehicles where there is a potentially known hazard and they have not warned the owner/driver how to deal with it. I could see a class action coming otherwise.

I didn't know that anyone would buy the Performance model and then drive it in Eco mode. I haven't in a year and a half. I had an electrified G80 as a loaner a year ago for a few weeks and I don't remember it behaving differently but, again, I have never tried Eco mode. The G80 is not marketed as a performance vehicle. I view it as a grand cruiser which should be smoother than the GV60P.
I have never once used Eco mode. In fact, I forgot I even had it.

Anyone else annoyed by brake rotor rust? The performance wheels are less of a work of art with what looks like a coat of rust…. Would OEM coated rotors improve this? (Maybe they already are, IDK).

Do you drive it in regen 0 every so often to force the mechanical brakes to be used?

On my EV6 that is in the manual - first 10 brake pedal applications on regen 0 doesn't use regen, for the purpose of cleaning the brake rotors.

My old Chev Volt Gen2 had a perfect algorithm for keeping the rotors cleaned: The friction brakes would come on with use of the brake pedal when the car was moving 3 mph or less. The transition was seamless, and you couldn't sense anything was different with the braking action. Yep, now old tech Volt.

I love that car. We only did an early lease swap for the Bolt because it's tight at the back for a car seat

I would like the rear spoiler in middle of rear window, re-positioned above rear window,,,see Porsche MACAN.
Reduce C pillars, to increase rear vision.
Whenever drive is engaged in sport mode, don’t default to a lesser mode, when restarting..
Same with Ipedal, don’t default to level 3 every time car is re-started, when in max mode.

What if every EV maker did that? Quite a line of chargers at the rest stop.

To me, it looks like Porsche just eliminated the window below the spoiler:

See the picture in the article showing the rear.

Genesis/Hyundai is one of the partners in Ionna, so that's how they are going to handle that situation. I'm looking forward to Ionna getting off the ground.
