If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Open Letter to Genesis Motors - How I'd Improve the GV60

OK - not sure if this exists already but I cannot find it. When the outside temp is above a certain templ, automatically turn on the cooled seats when I start the car. Same with a lower temp threshold - turn on the heated seats.
I thought the GV60 has this feature but I am not seeing it. My Telluride has this feature.
Thanks, John

Jump it just like you would a car. I had to do it twice with my Mach-E. There is a LVB somewhere and you jump it there. I would check the manual as well. The manual overall $ucks, but see what it says.

Do you know why it drained? If not call Genesis to get the jump.

how so, worse than it is now?
You can't be serious. Specific chargers for each brand of car? GM, Ford, Stellantis, Hyundai/Genesis, Toyota, VW, BMW, Mercedes, etc, etc,. No way can you support the infrastructure needed for that.

In the Navigation map, colors along the road lines are used to indicate traffic jams. But the colours that are used are very difficult or impossible to see for people with colour vision deficiency (CVD). And 10% of the population has CVD, myself included.
Google maps use colours for traffic jams which are much easier to see.
My proposal is to use a colour scheme which is much clearer for people with CVD.
I have found both the built-in nav app and the voice command system inadequate and have abandoned both. Past experience with BMW "Hey, BMW" and Volvo "Hey, Google" I guess spoiled me. Whenever I need similar capability I just plug in my iPhone......and sacrifice heads-up and other built in features. Genesis is surprisingly primitive in this area.

I'd like to have a walk away lock feature if holding the key. Obviously it wouldn't make sense if you're using biometrics to unlock and start the car, but if you're using the key fob, the GV60 already can sense when the key is nearby to unlock and present the door handles. Then if you don't enter the car, it will lock itself.

I want it to also lock itself when, after I've driven the car with the key fob in my pocket and parked, I turn off the car, get out, and walk away. This can be done with aftermarket accessories (at least for the Ioniq5 and EV6, but not the GV60), and it seems the car already has the hardware for the feature, so I would hope a software update could tell the car to lock itself when it doesn't sense the key inside the vehicle.

If Honda can figure out how to do it on the Civic, surely Genesis can as well. I get that you can lock it remotely with the connected services app if you forget and it sends you a push notification, but that requires usage of the 12V battery for which excessive use of it has been an ongoing issue with the EGMP cars. Auto locking on walk away would at least resolve this part.
This is a really obvious and annoying deficiency present on other luxury and standard brands. The car recognizes when the iPhone approaches and unlocks......why can't it do the same and lock when it leaves?? It should be linked to the passenger seat sensors, so that if someone remains in the car, it doesn't lock. Granted not everyone will want this feature, so make it optional as part of the profile.

This is a great list I would add:

Fix the fingerprint reader such it works more times than it fails. I have been locked out so many times that I now carry a key with me.
Neither the fingerprint or facial biometric features on my new car work accurately, so I deactivated both.

I have many thoughts to submit, but ultimately to do these things, they need to update their SW release processes to reguarly (monthly at a minimum) push OTA bug-fixes and feature drops. As far as features and fixes:

Allow automemory/recall of the ipedal setting + drive mode setting tied together the driver profile (I would like to keep 1 driver profile in full time 1-pedal driving with custom comfort/sport config, and the other driver's setting to Level 0 regen + eco driving because of the differing accelerator usage pattern).

Fix bugs around driver profile auto switching based on key fob used (i regularly see my profile for seat settings being the default with my partner's key fob, even though we set 2 profiles, each with different keys in the car at the time)

Faster responsiveness on actions sent from the mobile app to the vehicle, and faster interaction of the UI (the app needs to be completely rewritten UX wise)

Ability to kickoff OTA updates from mobile device when vehicle is already at the minimum update charge threshold (vs. having to go and click on the car console to accept the OTA update)

Wireless android auto/carplay (Bought a usb device as a workaround). Allow their map/route set in apple maps or google maps to integrate with charging stops along the route, and preconditioning automatically getting kicked off at the right time on those routes

Switchable usb power tab on the mirror - could be used for dashcams and radar detectors

Smartwatch digital key for both iOS and WearOS

dual phone wireless charger hardware for the phone charging slot - allow for driver + passenger wireless phone stowage/charging while driving

300 mile range on a charge for performance edition of vehicle

AI/natural language based voice commands + learning, for vehicle controls, smart route planning, smart scheduling, smart customer service etc. - the concierge can truly be virtual:

(e.g. "Genesis, please set my temperature to 70 and my front passenger to 72", or "Genesis, I'd like to go from my current location to pickup the kids at school and then go to their after school piano lessons at 123 main street" - and then next time have it recall that piano lessons location without me having to say the address. or "Genesis have my commute mapped to start at 8am tomorrow" and it automatically has the best route calculated based on current traffic conditions.

Also they could put more work into automated scheduling for customer service visits when recall notices are sent out e.g. 'a new service notice has been sent out, based on your google calendar, the following dates/times look available - would you like to schedule one of these dates with the dealership service center'....it isn't that hard any more to do this sort of smart integration.

1. Allow it to retain the i-pedal setting. At a minimum, going into reverse should not cancel i-pedal. It would be even better if turning the car off did not cancel i-pedal. This is a safety feature -- if I forget that i-Pedal is not engaged, the car will not decelerate as needed/expected. I usually turn on i-Pedal ASAP when starting a drive, and leave it on all the time (except when cruise control turns it off). But occasionally I'll get distracted and forget, and then not notice until I need to decelerate. Then it's like "oops - need to brake NOW". I understand this may affect efficiency testing, but that's a you problem.

2. Allow manual control of battery pre-conditioning. Even here in Southern California, pre-conditioning makes a big difference in charging speed in the cooler months. The current method of starting pre-conditioning is super inconvenient. This needs to be de-coupled from the (horrible) built-in nav system. Seriously, my 2006 Prius had a far superior built-in nav to the Genesis (but other than pre-conditioning, I don't really care, because I have multiple excellent CarPlay nav options).

The above two items are really the blockbusters for me. Anything else would just be gravy. But if you're still reading:

3. Wireless CarPlay would be very nice, but not a blockbuster for me. I've set up a very nice mount for my iPhone that makes wired CarPlay pretty easy.

4. Digital rear view mirror.

5. Improved UI for the Genesis iPhone app - it's kind of a hot mess right now.

6. A small light in the charging door would be useful - I keep an LED booklight in the car for this.

7. Ability to save camera recordings (i.e. dashcam) and monitoring while parked (aka Tesla sentry mode).

One last thing, it would be nice to get Supercharger access sooner rather than later, assuming that is still happening. But I don't suppose the theoretical Genesis/Hyundai executives reading this can do anything about that. But Hyundai is part of Ionna - let's get some chargers going guys!

By the way, if I was to make a list of things I love about my GV60 it would be much longer than the above list. It's so great it still gives me a thrill every time I get in.
I wholeheartedly concur ref the quirky and unsafe iPedal system. I just finished a 3 year lease of the EX40 Volvo EV, and was pleased to move to the Genesis GV60. Genesis is known for its standard tech, and overall I'm satisfied, but there are some astonishing deficiencies. Not being able to save Drive Mode and recharge settings is perhaps the most glaring stumble. And getting the darn iPedal to stay in place....having it disappear in reverse and when you leave and reenter the car, is a real safety problem. You are are expecting something to happen and then it doesn't....WOW! There's also having to press on the brake to switch from reverse to drive.....! None of these glitches were an issue in the new Volvo EX model I had. I'm far from being an engineer, but all of this seems to be software, right?

I would like the rear spoiler repositioned above the rear window, instead of in the middle, blocking my rear view. See Porsche Macan, they got it right.
I am in the minute minority for this, but put a CD player in car, like in 2018 G90, in the glove box.
be a little more open to more colors instead of so may white & grays.

On the Nav, I'd love a simple "what time will I be home" feature on the map or home screen. I don't need a full on route guidance when driving in areas I know. But if I'm driving across town (Denver metro), it would be cool to hit a button and see my estimate without having to deal with full on Nav instructions talking to me.

Similar for preconditioning my charger. My "home charger" is a Walmart 1 mile from my house. I don't need turn by turn to get there, so like someone mentioned with "manual precon", something similar to that.

Seems like these would be OTA updates that are possible.

Perhaps it is a region thing as in UK (and European cars) we get that bottom left on the navigation screen and as a card option on the dashboard.

It'll show the time of arrival when I've got route guidance on in the lower left - I'm with you on that. I'm just wanting an option that instead of turning on the full Nav, to ask "when will I be home"

I checked mine. Unless the Nav is on, the lower left shows my current location, not time to home.

Apparently, the current 'spoiler' position is what saves the rear windshield from needing a wiper. The Ioniq5 has the 'spoiler' above the window, and is a mess in the rain / snow / winter, whereas the GV60 gets very little splash-up due to the 'spoiler' position.
A wiper would be required if moved up.
As an aside... I've had no issue with rear visibility.

We filed a lemon law action because of the User Authorization system failing consistently and being unable to be repaired despite many software replacements and two full hardware replacements

..I was driving thru 124’ last week & cooled seats didn’t activate,

Genesis Motors executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Genesis Motors executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a GV60 driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Genesis GV60.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.
I would like the spoiler repositioned above the rear window. Putting it in the middle of rear window, only serves to block rear vision. (See Porsche MACAN)
