  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

On Sunday night, June 2, 2019 our 2016 Pamplona Red Genesis AWD Ultimate gave up its life for us. It only had 19,900 miles on it!

We were in stop-and-go traffic and were not moving when a kid in a Chevy Pickup slammed into the back of the Genesis, pushing us into the back end of the SUV in front of us. Both ends of our car were crunched (the impacts weren't hard enough to trigger the airbags!) and our insurance company has now "Totaled" it. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but now I have to find a replacement!

I am so bummed :(

So sorry that happened. That really sucks. Glad you guys are alright though.

Hope you find a great replacement soon!

Pressing F to pay respects

Condolences, David. I can feel your pain, but she did what she was supposed to do in protecting you and any other precious cargo. Surprised that the airbags didn't deploy, as that looks like a pretty solid hit. Glad you guys are okay and I'm confident you'll find a worthy replacement.

Good that they did not. Hit from the rear the airbag could have caused injury. They will not deploy unless certain criteria are met.

Frontal air bags are generally designed to deploy in "moderate to severe" frontal or near-frontal crashes, which are defined as crashes that are equivalent to hitting a solid, fixed barrier at 8 to 14 mph or higher. (This would be equivalent to striking a parked car of similar size at about 16 to 28 mph or higher.)

That sucks, especially with low miles. Hope the insurance works out for you so you can upgrade at little or no cost. The new features on the 2019 are nice though, like the suround view of the camera.

Good to know, Ed. I knew there were criteria, just not exactly how precise those were. Thanks for the knowledgable insight.

Glad to see everyone's okay. Curiuos to know whether you'd hold out for the new 2020 coming...

Better they totaled it than fix it and give back to you. Glad everyone is safe.

Thanks everyone! Had to take a break from car shopping for over a week...My youngest son got married in Seattle last Saturday! Now that we are back, I'm looking in earnest for a replacement. Maybe we will end up with an AWD '19 3.3T in Havana Red!

Feel your pain. Same color, year and model as mine. Good luck with the replacement.

My old 2016 I just turned in (which is in mint condition and I babied the heck out of it ) is sitting on the lot where I bought my g70. Trust me you won’t find a nicer kept one. They are giving it a pretty good price. My residual was 29500 so they are selling it even below that. I see you say you were in Seattle. That’s where it is at. I could tell you everything you want to know but it has every recommenced factory service and had new tires at 22000. I even have the paper work on those tires I could send you for warranty. Ha. Has 31k miles. Was always hand wash hand dried. And garaged. Never driven in snow. Might be an option for you. Even have the brand new carpeted mats for it in my garage. Not a scratch on it. Hardly any rock chips on the front. It has every option on it available for its year. They are asking 27800. If has been there a month.
