  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The outside temperature gauge reads -40 degrees to 254 degrees randomly.

It seems that he heat kicks up when the erroneous readings are below zero farenheit and the air conditioner goes on when the outside gauge reads 65 to 254 degrees above zero.

Where is the gauge located? Is there a DYI fix?

The ambient sensor is up in front of your radiator (see attached "Ambient Sensor - Photo" PDF). You've most likely got a bad sensor or loose connections.

See the attached "Ambient Sensor - Schematic" PDF and you'll note that there are 8 connections on the ambient sensor line between the "Joint Connector" at the top of the diagram and the "A/C Contro Module" at the bottom.

I'd check the all the connections for security and continuity first. If that doesn't do it, I'd replace the sensor. If that doesn't do it, then you might have an issue with the control module.

Thanks Mike,

Those PDFs will be very helpful when I go back to the dealer.

Wouldn't the warranty cover this?

I would certainly expect it to be covered. The only way I think they could deny warranty service is if you did anything to your Genny that violated the warranty.

I used to have a Nissan Titan with the outside temperature sensor in the same location as the Genesis. The temperature would usually go up when I would be stopped in traffic for long periods of time. I think this was caused by hot air circulating around the engine compartment and getting to the sensor. The temperature would usually go back down once I got back up to speed. Having said that, with temperature swings like that, that's definitely not normal.
