  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi there, my 2015 Genesis 5.0 recently just reached 100k miles. I was wondering about everyone’s experience and opinion on whether or not to keep it and purchase an extended warranty for the car. I am in love with this car however I am just not sure how they hold up in the long run!

What is the price of a warranty? Probably high with that many miles. Put the money in the bank instead and it will earn you 5 cents interest every month. Given the age and miles. the engine is probably good for another 50 to 100k more miles. If the trans goes, repair or used is probably not much more than the warranty cost.

I'm in a similar situation. 2 years and 20K miles on a 2015 5.0. I'm not buying a warranty. I may regret it, but so far the car has been good to me (knock on wood).

I’ve got a 2015 3.8 with 111500 miles on it and I do all the regularly scheduled maintenance on it and it runs great no issues at all. I use Valvoline full synthetic and I use a motor flush additive from BG everytime I change my oil (every 7500 miles). I also do flushes on my fluids although I have yet to do a transmission flush but that will be next. I replaced my brakes and did a tune up with ngk iridiums.

my 2015 3.8 sedan with 92000 miles had an engine replacement through dealer for oil contamination. The engine covered by original warranty and the other issues were covered by extended warranty. Total bill will be around 20,000. Warranty coverage was only 1200. Bargain. I' shopping for a new warranty for the rest of its useful life.

They quoted 3000$ for another 60k miles! We had an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles which definitely paid for itself!

Seems like a lot, until you start pricing out head-units and transmissions. Now in fairness, you can probably get your head-unit repaired (rather than replaced) for a lot cheaper than the approximate cost of $4K if buying new from parts, ditto for the transmission.
