  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

2013 3.8 Sedan Premium+Tech

The overhead front console lights, both driver and passenger, do not turn on, whether manually or when the door opens. All of the other switches, like the sunroof power, work just fine. I checked what I believe is the right fuse according to the manual (passengers side fuse panel, module 3,10amp) and there's no break in it, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. The rear overhead lamps work just fine.

Any ideas? Thank you

TL/DR: if you have not yet checked the 10A ROOM lamp fuse (probably in the engine compartment), do so.

In the 2012 4.6 Tech service data, the Room Lamps are controlled by the Instrument Panel Module (IPM) and there is a Room Lamp cutoff relay ("H" in the pic below), in addition to the ROOM fuse. I presume the 3.8 will be similar. While the IPM controls the luxurious light fade gimmick, the relay is a hard cutoff. So I would check for possible failure there. If the relay is okay, check the wiring.

I have heard of the solder or components failing on the PCB in the overhead console. You may have to repair or replace it.
