  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

narrowed my new car search narrowed down to 14 535 vs 14 rspec

both are great cars and both have some advantages over the other, but right now the biggest advantage the rspec has over the 535 is price and a few more options. i can get a 14 535 with 90% of the options the rspec has for 50k with 5k miles on her and a free maintenance program but a shorter warranty than the rspec - 50k 4 years.

the rpec i can get new with full warranty for 38k. i'll save a little on gas with the 535, but save thousands on the price going with the rspec.

i drove a new 14 535 this last weekend and loved the drive with sport mode shift and being able to switch suspension modes. just a fun car to drive. the rpec is fun and nice but doesn't drive quite as good as the 535 imo.

i'm still deciding on the two but getting closer to making a choice i think. :)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
While the R spec is a great car (I have a 2011 4.6) ... the Handling and seats of the BMW are superior (IMHO).

The Genesis does offer a good bang for the Buck...is fairly quick in it's own right, and Handles "OK".

Some of the handling differences can be mitigated by getting a sportier tire / rim package on the genesis...it does make a difference.

For example on my BMW E39 540iT... handled GREAT with the Performance tires...in the snow - sucked
With Snow Tires on... GREAT in the Snow...performance wise... sucked.

Both a great cars. I went with the Genny to get more car for my $$. I was not disappointed. I do miss the seats of the BMW.

When you factor in the maintenance on the BMW you will likely be looking at about the same price over 2 or 3 years, but at the end of that time the BMW will probably be worth 10k more.

How do you figure maintenance costs on a new Genny add up to $12k in the first 3 years of ownership?

Re: narrowed my new car search narrowed down to 14 535 vs 14 rspec

The BMW can be a wonderful car (my last one was not) as long as you understand the math you're doing on cost of ownership changes the minute the 535 is out of warranty. The ideal scenario is a lease that ends when the warranty ends.

^^^ What he said. The only way I would have a BMW is through a lease.

Leasing European luxury cars is the only way to go. I had a Mercedes S600, then had a Jaguar XFR. The Mercedes was not covered and I spent almost $8k one year in repairs and maintenance...That hurt bad:(

The Jag was leased, just went back last month. Nice car but would NEVER own it out of warranty. Same for any European car. Unless you get one cheap you are in trouble. Never have car payments and car repairs at the same time...that's what I have adopted over the last few years.
