  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

There's another thread out here that's discussed this and IIRC it seems some have been lucky while others have not.

Mine look bad on one side and not so bad on the other, but it appears these A-Pillars are a problem on every Genny. I'm planning on bringing this up to my SA on my next dealer visit and see what happens. Maybe others can chime-in with more recent experiences.

I have this issue, but am not doing anything about it. Maybe I could take them off and get them anodized. Is it hard to take these off?

Correction - these are plastic, right? So why not just apply a trim restorer to it?

I've tried that and it helps slightly. The pro-detailer who did my paint correction worked on them and said there was not much that could be done other than having them replaced or redo yourself. This is another one of those quirky parts on all Gennies.

Others out here have put on the aftermarket carbon fiber covers which didn't look bad at all, but I think I'd prefer to have mine remain stock. I'm sure if they were easily removable (good luck) one could have them resprayed or powder-coated, etc. Probably easier to simply replace.

You can also buy vinyl piano black pillar covers as well. I personally wanted to make my Genesis stand out with the DiNoc carbon fiber look, but black was an option as well if I wanted the stock look.

Forgot you had mentioned that before and that's a great idea too.

I think the Carbon Fiber looks great on yours as the Caspian Black meshes well and gives it a sporty look imo. They'd probably look pretty sharp on the Empire State Gray too. One of the reasons I love those darker colors.

Yet when I picture them on my Ibiza Blue I wonder if they may appear cheesy, if you know what I mean (like that gimmicky aftermarket stuff that makes a car look cheap). Idk, they may end up looking great so may still give them a try when the time comes; right now the pillars are a secondary priority for me. First up, new tint and new shoes!

Mine were replaced before I bought I agreed to buy it. Dealership said it was a warranty issue anyway that should have already been done.

Been looking into it and it appears to be the “rear door delta garnish,” according to the service manual. Apparently you have to temove the rear door trim to get to the two access screws that hold it on. Doesn’t look too tough to do as a diy.

Just got My b-pillars and c-trim wrapped in glossy black vinyl. I was shocked at how exact it came out. Had really bad fading on one side and investigated my options. Came down to getting both sides wrapped and like I said, it looks brand new. Found a reputable guy who removed the trim for a full wrap. Cost me $300 for both sides. Only catch is, lasts about 3-5 years outdoors. Will post photos if you’re interested.

I'm interested. I really want to know if the trim is plastic or if it's aluminum.

Attached are the photos. Difficult to see clearly because of the reflection. It’s a black gloss vinyl wrap (plastic) - the same material they use to do a full wrap on a car.
