Hello everyone, my 2012 genesis 3.8 sedan has been getting stuck on 5th gear and this code poped up on my scanner. Does any one have a fix for this or know which solenoid is messed up?

it's a pretty simple swap, but I believe it does require some calibration. Most likely AAMCO or a similar place can do it, my brother just had something similar done on his 2008 Chrysler 300 at AAMCO, cost him $300 in labor plus the part.

Did a trans flush (drain and fill) p0753 kicked on, checked level and everything is good. I used valvoline maxlife atf. Has the appropriate rating, but it seems the fluid is to thick in my climate (saskatchewan, winter). Works fine at temp, but clunky when cold. Don't cheap out. Get the specialized atf.

Do you mean this fluid, premium synthetic Ravenol SP-IV RR type automatic transmission fluid?

Ya, every kit I've seen for trans flush on these uses that atf. I ended up going to my local dealer and bought it from them because I couldn't wait for it to come in the mail. Nowhere in my town carries it besides hyundai. They retail that stuff at 42 something per quart in canada, stuff is stupid expensive, but it seems ro have solved my trans issue. If you live somewhere hot, you could probably just run valvoline, it's a bit thicker so it would be a little better for the gears and it worked fine for me until the atf got cold. On the other hand sometimes it's worth paying to know you won't have a problem. This process has taught me to not cheap out and get the right stuff from the start.

TLDR: ravenol sp-iv-rr is the stuff you want. If you can get it somewhere besides the dealer it'll probably be cheaper, I was seeing it at 19 ish usd so still expensive. Or try your luck with an equivalent but be prepared to have to flush all that new stuff out again

I almost purchased it but decided against as you can't remove all of the fluid during drain or pan/filter replacement. I live in the Mid-Atlantic area so we have 4 seasons, sort of.

Ya if you get below 0°C or 32°F I wouldn't recommend vavlovine atf. Above 32°F I doubt there'd be an issue. It does carry the sp-iv-rr rating but in practice it doesn't work the greatest in negative temperatures. You definitely can't get everything out with a drain and fill and unfortunately more and more vehicles are going that route for trans service. If you do it before the service interval you won't have an issue. That said I did a drain and fill on a chevy suv yesterday and at the service interval the atf was black and stinky, so I recommend checking the level and quality of the fluid at every oil change so you know how that fluid is doing in your specific situation. In Saskatchewan we are considered severe conditions so it's worth taking the time to check. If you go to a valvoline instant oil change they will be able to check that stuff for you. They should show you a sample too but ask for a sample just incase. Also if you bring in atf they can do the service for you with your stuff. They'll charge you labour on it but that's still a great option for someone if the don't have the space, tools or know how to do it themselves.

I will be doing just that. I just bought the pan/filter with new hardware for replacement. Had the system drained and serviced at 85K+/-3K miles at the dealer. They had the car all day for this and a differential drain/service. Said they couldn't find the diff fluid...I asked "Aren't you a dealer that does this"?
