  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just discovered. This is front/bottom vertical edge of both front doors on my 23 G70. This doesn't look good. The car's only 6 months old with barely 6kkm on odometer. It' obvoius damage from road debris during winter. I talked to the guys in Body Shop & they told me that design is flawed (front fender should be sticking out more & they should've put 3M film in this area. I can only imagine how this will look after 3-4 Canadian winter! Does anybody have the same problem? Just wondering... In any case I'll be calling dealership to fix it. Please see the photo attached (rotate it +90deg)

That really sucks!!

looks more like parking lot dings from opening your doors against either a car or something else. Are those dings on a door or the metal ahead of the door?

No they're not. When you click on the photo it is in correct orientation (the door is on the right). Chips are on the doors only. You can't hit other cars with that part of the door.

Ok guys. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow so they can look at it. I already know what's happening because I have the car looked at by two top body shops here in Calgary. We'll see what Genesis says but this doesn't look good. I'll post my findings later on tomorrow.

There's no way Hyundai would cover that as a defect IMO, since it's not a defect per say (just bad design). Hope I'm wrong, but don't expect a different result. My car has damage at the rear, even with the OEM splash guards in place (they're tiny), and few clear bra patches. And yes, the fender should flare out more behind the front tires, or offer better splash guards. It'd be nice to get covered by bad design, but that's not the reality. Let us know what happened.

Hyundais have numerous documented paint quality issues...please update us with what the dealership says.

Went to the dealership yesterday & talked to the service manager. He said they'd fix it but how that's another thing. He couldn't tell me how just the old saying 'Don't worry we'll fix it'. I have to leave my car, the body shop (different place) will access what needs to be done, etc. He said both doors will have to be remove from the car so that would be big job and after re-alligning doors and espessialy both front fenders so they flare out a little more the the edges of the door. I'd never agree to fix it this way at least for now. Things go wrong all the time & I don't want to take any chances. Interesting thing is that when we arrive at the dealeship (with my son) we spotted two 2022/23 G70 and they both had the same damage but only on one side. The other sides were good. Obviously the problem lies not with the design but with poor assemby & QC. I attached the picture with one of the cars that had th same paint chips). The manages that I spoke with didn't even look closely at the car he just looked at the picures he also took some. That makes me believe that this is not isolated problem & perhaps the service bulletin already exists. For now I'll go to touch up shop let the do their work & put little 3M film over both doors. If this holds & it's not visible I'm Ok with that.

The OEM mud/splash guards eliminate most of that damage. I bought them right away, but the rear fenders (ahead of the rear wheels) still get some chips. No way I'd let a body shop fix that (even for free), when damage will happen again. I just touch them up, and problem solved for me.

Well I installed OEM mud guards the day I took the car off the lot…
As you can see from the photo attached front ones don’t do squat. Just have a look at those dirt lines.

And this is OEM mud guard on my 2008 Subaru spec.b with 260kkm on the odometer that I just sold. Not even one chip after 15 crazy Canadian winters and doing some crazy stuff…

Those 'lines' are the wind pushing the dirty water up the fenders; no damage from road debris in that area at all, even without mud guards;). My car is already chipped to hell and back in the front (only 6K miles now), due to the super crappy roads (and winds) in this desert area, but zero chips anywhere around the wheels... and I received the mud guards a few weeks after purchase, due to being back-ordered. It has a couple of chips in the flared out areas in front of the rear tires, at the very bottom, where the little clear-bra squares didn't cover. Need to touch them up.
