  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Paint Sucks Big Time

^^ thanks. Oh, they are white.

Sonata made in US? Maybe localized engineers get it. Where those folk over the ocean who do the Genny do not get it yet? Just a thought.

I'm pretty sure it's a US sonata, I live like 300 miles from the factory so I would hope so. The genesis seems to be much much worse in paint quality. Still love it though!

Yea... Agree... Upsetting in a way. Yet the American engineering and design studios here help spec the the Sonata.. And Americans run the robot final assembly paint shop. Bet a twenty those are the differences that make for a deeper paint job on the Sonata.

Yeah a big part of the issue with this paint is that it seems to peel when it comes off. A chip that should be so much smaller seems to have done way more damage than the impact. I just barely scrapped the front bottom of the bumper while leaving a parking lot and was shocked to find how much paint came off the bottom of it.

When I bought my Sonata nine+ yrs ago - everybody on the Sonata board said the paint was "thin" and wouldn't last.

The car has set outside ever since and the paint is still like new.

It is an alabama car for what difference it makes.
